Attention in the wrong spot?

I recently bought a pair of orange Arcopedico shoes that I love for their comfort and color. However, someone made a comment that when I wore these shoes with this outfit, all they could "see" were my shoes because of the bright color and it took away from the rest of me. I think what might be happening is that if the rest of my outfit is mostly neutral, it needs some pop of color to tie in the shoes. For example when I have tha bag along with me. Do you think so too? Are the shoes too distracting? Any feedback welcome. Thanks.

P.s. you can't see this in the picture but the bag has some orange piping.

Wow, the way that person made it sound, it seemed like your shoes were glowing in the dark. They don't look *that* bright and even if they do, I think they're great. But I find that I'm more comfortable with more than one pop of color...even if it's small, like in a necklace or headband. Having just ONE color makes it seem like you just added it for the sake of having color somewhere...y'know?

The whole outfit is really cute, and the bag definitely adds a nice complementary pop.

Those shoes are great! I love to do the same (a neutral outfit and a colorful shoes and bag) love to have them as the focus of the outfit!

Thanks everybody. At the very least it sounds like it's not an eye sore or too much of a distraction in the wrong way. And Maya, I agree with you, I'll try to find a bit of color elsewhere to tie it in - in the future.

I think the shoes look fab with or without the bag. They are a pop of color for the outfit but not distracting. In fact, I think the pattern of your top balances the color perfectly.

I think the shoes are fine as is, but if you wanted to incorporate more color maybe you could find a necklace, earrings, or pin that has a brighter color (orange, yellow) to wear with the outfit.

Sihaya, you know I will defend the orange shoes I really like them with the outfit and I love the turquoise bag (shocking, I know), but I feel as if another element is missing. I agree with Maya that another small element of orange would be nice. I am in fact on the hunt for a nice understated necklace with orange to offset my orange sandals and give my outfits a little more pulled together look. That being said, I think you look wonderful and I would take the critique you received with a grain of salt!

Sihaya, I haven't much to add to what everybody has said but I simply love your orange shoes!!! I don't think they "steal the thunder" from the rest of your outfit per se.
