Ask Angie: White vs. Cream winter coats

Angie, I've been searching the blog posts to no avail so I thought I would ask you directly: what are your thoughts on white winter coats? I am in need of a long warm puffer this winter, and the white ones are really catching my eye. I know you lean more toward the cream, but I am afraid with my coloring the ivory/cream will wash me out more than a bright white. (I had a short white puffer through last winter and had no issues with keeping it clean.)

I am considering this one from Eddie Bauer; I had its twin in black last year and it saved me from a nasty cold winter in Chicago.

(the Lodge Parka)

But Laura65 was talking about this Patagonia stunner in her thread and now I am unsure. I love the shape of it more, but I think the shade will wipe me out like a pencil eraser. :)

Any advice? Thanks so much!

It's good to have company in the search. I bet you could wear the Patagonia coat, since Angie said it worked on a tall client of hers. But I like the EB coat! The Yukon coat description says it's off-white. Is the Lodge coat more of a bright white?

The Patagonia is sold at REI so I'm going to check it out at the one in Glenview tomorrow. The EB one I am looking at is actually from the outlet, and it's a bright white, like the Lodge parka. I had that one on this week, and I liked it. I'm bringing Hubby with me to compare the two tomorrow (he doesn't know that yet LOL) -- EB outlet is having a big down-coat sale for the next couple of weeks. I picked up a very cute eggplant puffer vest for $29 this week! :)

P.S. Did you want to do a puffer shopping trip with me? You would probably be better company than the spouse! :)

Thumbs up from me on the white puffers! White is the colour of snow. Have fun shopping together :0)
