I've fallen hard for the long top look...so much that I have few shorter ones left in rotation. I've especially come to love the assym hem style. But...what's the guideline for wearing these with coats? My two Fall jackets and one of my winter coats just hit at low hip length.

I'm showing two of the most extreme pairings to highlight what I mean. These are my longest sweaters I think. Others may fall just a few inches longer than the coats and be more of a uniform hem look.

Pic 1...longest point of the assym sweater is way below jacket length.
Pics 2 & 3...front hem just a bit below the jacket and probably looks okay, but the back is a lot longer.
Pic 4...just to defend the sweater cause I like it! Hanging below the coat it looks a bit like a baggy diaper! It is sort of cocoon-ish in shape and doesn't look as strange by itself. I hope!

So...okay? Okay but not great? Completely breaking all rules of good taste? What are the guidelines? I'm guessing the new coat I'm wishing for should be longer so this is less of an issue. But does it need to be as long or longer than the point of the assym sweater. Yep, I'm confused!
