Ms. Maven, I think I'm going to need to check those guidelines for the long waisted.
Hmmm.
Summer, Vix, and others -- we should start a support group.
I remember Anne explained the clams thing to me brilliantly one time. I had wondered on the forum why I looked okay (or at least passable) in a below the knee skirt, but shorts that length looked so "off" to my eye.
She said that it is probably because a skirt disguises the length of the rise -- where trousers actually highlight it. Maybe more so in shorter trousers, though she didn't say as much. It's just where your eye tends to go. Anyway...when I'm wearing shorts, I rarely want to wear heels because most of my shorts are for casual days. So this means flat or almost flat shoes -- and my short stubby little calves and long rise are highlights. Ugh.
As for tunics, stay tuned for further experimentation. I am so determined to switch up my usual silhouettes that I'm going to try again this season. Let's hope I've found a formula. If not, I just wasted a bit of money. Gulp.
Vix, I cannot believe from your photos that you have these figure flattery concerns -- your legs always look a thousand miles long -- but I do note that you wear a high-waisted dress (like the beautiful one in your recent wedding photos) extremely well and I take your point that it does some work in disguising.
