I saw a window display with a countdown to spring. I think it said 19 days? Our local bookstore has one window devoted to gardening books.
This past week most store fronts switched over to spring windows, and the winter sale items have moved from the front of the stores, to the back. Puffers are gone. I saw a 3 window run of nautical navy, white, and red, and two separate stores were featuring a lot of blush, lace, chiffon, and gold. Another 2 stores (one high end, one low end fast fashion) were doing pattern clashing with florals, stripes, and hound-tooth checks featuring full skirts, cropped pants, and cropped tops.
All the neutrals and safe colour schemes might stem from the fact that my stomping grounds are in the financial district! I sometimes find the guy's fashion more interesting than the women's. Plain suits and dress trousers, but colourful, shirts, ties, and socks, and interesting hair! Lots of undercuts, interesting facial hair, and topknots - all groomed to perfection!
Women are still wearing a lot of black - skirts, slim pants, tights, high boots, booties, and a plain one colour top - topped by a statement necklace or flowey cardi.
I'm spending 2 nights in the BIG CITY this week, and will be exploring the stores after work. I plan to go beyond my usual territory, and will report if I find anything interesting during my reconnaissance!
