About your wardrobe and personal style

Ask Angie ... Hmm ... What is my style?

Hey,

What do you consider my style to be? Is it appropriate for a 23 yr old college student? Is it fun? Too conservative? I will be honest with you - I am NOT a conservative person by any means! Can I make it more edgy/fun? How can I do this?

Thanks!

Kathleen, I wish I could answer you! But you really haven’t posted enough good quality pictures for me to get handle on your style. Also, when I probe and ask questions, I don’t always get a reply which leaves me a little lost. But I’m excited to go on a style journey with you :0)

I get the sense that you are willing to experiment with lots of wacky looks – which is how it should be at 23! Your current hairstyle is far from conservative which also leaves me with the impression that you are daring, But on the other hand the fact that you don’t like your current, very sensational haircut, has left me confused too. I need a little more input in order to provide adequate output. Hope that makes sense.

I agree with Angie.. but don't worry about defining your style, it's something that it is not static and it changes a lot trought your life. The important is that you keep always an open mind to try new things!

Angie,

I know what you mean about not having good, quality pics. I am still working on it as that is the only tall mirror that I have and it is on the back of a door and cannot be switched. Also, my camera has a timer, I just don't know how to turn it on ... LOL.

I'm sorry I have missed your questions. What type of input do you need?

As for my haircut, I can never make up my mind. I have had long hair, short hair, long hair, short hair, and now with three years of short hair I am missing my long hair or longer (cheek length - chin length is considered long for me)than I have, so I am trying to grow it out. It is also somewhat of a confidence thing for me - it can get confusing - I suppose. I guess in a way (now I am not just admitting this to myself but all of my YLF friends too) I am sick of people assuming that I am either gay, or a guy, or whatever it may be. I know that sounds shallow, and low in confidence for myself, but I am working on the confidence factor - sometimes I have confidence, sometimes I don't - it depends on the day.

Kathleen, I honestly do not think your hairstyle makes you look like a guy or gay. How in the world did you come to have these feelings?
Alot of us try things that are androgynous and it is a good idea to balance the masculine with the feminine. If your hair makes you feel like a guy you could balance the look with very feminine clothing and makeup. Does that make sense?
As for the pictures, I am not picking on your photography skills here, but you really need to find the book to use the timer or get a friend to take your picture. I know you have worked hard to post pictures with a flash in them or just a picture of a skirt from an angle that distorts the full look. I just cannot come up with a reasonable idea of what you look like as a whole.
I would love to help, and I know lot's of others would love to help too. Can you take your camera to a camera store and ask questions? Also getting a tri pod could work wonders and they are not expensive.
Good luck. You are so pretty and you are at the right place to get sorted out.

Kathleen, you can also try searching online for your camera's instruction booklet. Go to the manufacturer site (like Canon, Olympus, etc.) and look under product info, or operation manual... all companies post their instruction booklets online now and the great thing is they also have troubleshooting searches, so if your having trouble with one of the functions, they can steer you to some easy solutions.
Good luck! Self timers make things much easier!

Kathleen,
I don't think your hair makes you look like a man! One thing you can do is dress very feminine to balance your hair style... skinny jeans, small heels, and a nice top or tunic and makeup will make you feel sexy!
And by the way.. short hair is very in.. and very sexy!

Hey Everyone,

Thank you for all of the help and input you guys have given me and I know will continue to give me.

San ... I am not really sure the reason why I feel that way. It may be people's comments (one friend told me I look like a 12 yr old boy & when I was at the hair salon with my mom another woman said the same thing) or the way they look at me (even though I have always been stared at as I walk with a gait due to a physical disability, so that is not as bothersome, but let me be honest, does get old).

I am going to get my camera instructions out (if I can find them LOL) this weekend and mess around with the timer ... I promise!

My look has defenitely evolved from what it used to which was jeans and tee's & sweatershirts (I had a horse and nice clothes were not in the equation when I was in high school), but for some reason something kicked me in the ass when I got into my early 20's and I have decided that I hate (no offense, just personal) the "average" college student look - I hate the way that a lot of female college student either wear jeans and collegiate tee's and sweatshirts or mini skirts and skimpy clothes - so I decided to dress myself for success and to look like a young professional so that you can't look at me and think that I am one when you look at me.

Anything else you guys want to know?

Kathleen, I can't see how anyone would possibly think you look like a boy. You have such pretty and feminine features, and I like how the short hair shows them off. Same thing with Brianna, who has a similar length cut.

What brand and model of camera do you use? Perhaps we can help you find a user guide online. I know Canon posts downloadable user guides on their website for each camera model.

Thanks for helping me understand Kathleen. I don't think you look like a boy at all. You have very feminine features. Maybe some of what they say they think they are being funny.
Anyway we are here for you and as soon as you get that camera working you have an army of help here.
