Angie (and everybody else)!
I am going to NAS again this year. As I have only one shot at it (driving over the border and all) I need some help!:-)
You mentioned in another post that there is a good selection of boots this year. As footwear is so difficult for me to buy due to my size I am going to focus on it this time.
This is my current boot collection:
1 - Franco Sarto knee-high slouch grey boots
2 - Clarks tan tall boots - I am not sure how this style is called.
3 - Fitzwell flat black slouch tall boots
4 - Clarks black booties
5- Clarks plum booties
I am going to add 2 pairs of boots or booties only for this season and I am struggling to decide on the style and color. I would prefer styles which can be worn with both pants/jeans and dresses.
My appointment is this Friday and my head is spinning! Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Hmm, at first blush I would say you are missing some killer cognac tall boots and some grey booties.

But take it with a huge grain of salt and wait for Angie and the Boot royalty to chime in

Thanks Sara, good suggestion. Last year I asked the same question and Angie suggested black tall boots and booties - and like a good girl I got ##3 and 4 I am curious what is the verdict this year from our Boot Queen and the Court...

Oh yeah, naming selections is helpful! I was thinking of those Tory Burch leather riding boots for the killer tall cognac boots. . .

Anna, unfortunately Frye do not come in my size - I would be all over the brand otherwise. However I will make a mental note of light ankle boots...thanks!
lyn*, I was looking very hard for really slouchy boots and very happy with these ones.
Sara, Tory Burch's boots did catch my eye but they are a bit on the pricier side...we will see. If they look great on my legs, fit my calves and very comfortable I may overlook the steep price...:-)
I like Luxury Rebel Brady but - as usual - they do not come in my size.. Steve Madden Cablee is another option I want to try - but I am not sure how combat boots fit my style.

I think MNsara's suggestion about cognac boots is a great idea. I bought a pair of Steve Madden knee high wedges last year and have been amazed at how many palettes they work with. And...they would bookend your hair so wonderfully. Very rich and versatile.

You need dark brown boots to bookend your hair, Sveta! Try on ALL the styles that come in your size. It is worth it.

Kyle, cognac is my favorite shade of brown and it does bookend my hair. I was on the lookout for cognac boots forever...
Angie, this is my general strategy - try on everything in my size. The problem is what if I have more than 2 pairs which fit and I like - how to decide which ones?:-)
So you think dark brown is better than cognac for me or cognac is dark enough to qualify as dark brown?

Angie, have you seen Boutique 9 Floyde? They look interesting but I am not sure if this style will date quickly...

What about that Indigo by Clarks bootie in the catalog? It comes in congac-ish brown leather and if I remember you had that "turkish" grey suede pair like the ones Angie has, so I'm thinking that brand makes your size?

I tried the Floyd Bootie on today. It was quite comfortable. The green is delicious. Remind me of your calf size, Sveta?

Concentrate on browns and perhaps a donkey grey? Choose the boots that are MOST comfy.

My calf is about 15.5 -16 so it is on the bigger size. I find that with size 12 calves get to get bigger than the spec says though.
I already have one pair of grey tall boots but maybe I can look for grey booties and tall brown?

Sveta, there are lots of shades of brown boots this year - donkey grey is more brown than grey. Try the BP Ruston Boot and the SW brown ankle boot - both come in size 12.

The Clarks Jenava likes are nice too! Too high for me, but soft and cushioning on the inside.

Thanks Angie. Like yours my feet prefer heels of 2" and lower so I hope to find some great boots and booties in this heel range. I think my FS boots are in this donkey grey color as they are a warmer shade of grey.
Kari, last year I found that a lot of boots were too wide for me in the calf. That was a real surprise because a couple of years ago I had a real difficulty finding any boots wide enough!

I vote for a tall dark boot, dark brown or chestnut should be fine, just darker than the two you already have to switch up from the black pair. And one pair of booties, taller than what you currently have but not as tall as your to the knee boots in a lighter color for some variety.

Something similar to this height would be fun.

Nothing new to add, just wanted to cheer you on in your boots quest! Fall shopping is my absolute favorite thing--I hope you find your perfect boots!

Thanks Lisa. Honestly I am afraid of the ankle boots with tight top: I think they make my thick ankles and calves even bigger...but I will give them a try.
