I see from today's post that New York is one of Angie's favorite fashion cities. I can only assume that means she will come back and we will have high tea. And anyone even remotely close by (that means you Nicole and Tanya) has to come too! Get yourselves on that Chinatown bus!

Wow, if you guys get together in New York, be sure to let me know with plenty of time so I have time to arrange a trip, because I would so try to be there! But with my family being in Idaho and Seattle being a 45 minute flight from Boise, I'm a lot more likely to turn up there sooner than New York. I have other friends who live in Seattle as well.

I like piping hot, strong, loose leaf earl grey tea with a spot of milk and sugar. I prefer plain British scones with Belgian butter and Seville orange marmalade. Failing that I’ll settle for an extremely dense slice of chocolate cake. I don’t eat mammals so cucumber sandwiches are best. I've had High Tea in the best places in the world, but I’m intrigued with what you’d come up with, Maya. No pressure or anything.

I also like my tea piping hot, but I've grown weary of earl grey. I drink Irish breakfast by the gallon.

I'm a coffee girl....but you can't turn around with out tripping on a Dunkies here in the North East. Will a proper tea place allow me to bring in a styrofoam Dunkie? (milk, no sugar)

Now I start to imagine meeting you gals in NY and sampling the high tea with scones in the way Angie described.

I drink green tea, with dim sim or a small sweet snack, that's my favorite tea.

Hmmm. That's a hard toss up, Julia. I grew up on dim sum and it continues to be a big part of our lives. I'm as much into that as I am "High Tea". There shall have to a whole slew of international tea events and we'll stop off for coffee to keep our dear Nicole happy. That and loads of loo breaks.

You raise a good point Julia. I'm a fan of both Asian and English tea rituals (yes, it's a ritual). But I grew up with typical Indian tea, which is black, strong, with or without spices, and milk and sugar, so that is always my "go-to" tea. I always find it funny when people say "chai tea" because they're really saying "tea tea"--all tea is chai! But a while ago I bought a package of white pearl tea. White tea is the rarest and most expensive but I just had to try it, so I paid the $8 and gave it a shot. The tea leaves are rolled into little balls, and when hot water is poured, they open up. Not only did it taste wonderful but it was pretty to look at too!

Maya I know the pearl tea you're talking about, they come not only in white but also in green. I never put milk and sugar in my tea but can't drink coffee without them. It's just the way I'm used to. I love the tea kits used in the southern Chinese tea rituals too, I could collect them if I had enough money.
