Ask Angie: Color help! Yellows and grays...

Hi Angie!

In my opinion, everyone can wear every color, you just have to find the shades that work for you. I've been a brunette for a long time, and now that I'm a burgundy/blondehead (lol), I'm trying to figure out what works for me!

I know yellow is huge right now and so is gray.

Yellow:
I bought a sweater set in a pale yellow. yes or no?

I've also tried on a mustard color, and like it too, but don't really want to match my hair! lol

Grey:
Here's my attempt at that silver-grey you talked about in one of your blog entries. yes or no?

I welcome feedback from anyone, really. Don't worry about hurting my feelings, both of these purchases can go back to the store!

I'm not great with colours but imo the yellow looks too pale it seems to wash you out, the grey looks fine though x

Like Loulou, I'm not a fan of the pastel yellow on you, but the grey looks great. I took a quick browse through the rest of your outfits, and I notice brighter colors, like the red cardigan or magenta dress really stand out! You seem to have such a bubbly personality, that the pale yellow just doesn't do you justice!

I looked through your stream too - you and I wear a lot of the same colors (even if my eyes are green), which is making me want to dye my hair burgandy/blondehead now! LOVE your hair - cut/color - love your style. So fun and funky!

I think you can wear this shade of yellow. But, I may be projecting about that, since we seem to wear a lot of the same colors. I own a top in this same shade - I'd call it lemon yellow. I like it on me and it's one of the few shades of yellow I can pull off in a top near my face.

I would not necessarily shy away from bolder yellows either... if you've seen my photos, I recently bought a banana yellow bag, a color that I would never wear near my face, and I'm finding it adds a great touch of drama with my burgandy's, purples, cobalts, and greys. I'm guessing this is what Angie means by "it depends" on how colors are mixed together and worn?

I too like the grey against your skin tone. It will look great with denim and white. The yellow on the other hand, is a little draining - opt for something stronger and more mustard. It will work with the hair!

So ok, I realized that I've already gotten rid of the tags for the yellow stuff (it's a twinset). oops!

I'm going to switch it up a bit (maybe a blue or teal cami under the cardi, or a crisp white shirt with a POP of my purple scarf...oh so many options!) and I'll be sure to post for opinions!

I have to say, I'm surprised I got the go ahead for the grey! I thought for SURE that would be the color that would get the thumbs down.
