Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Ask Angie: City Shirts

I hope you, Greg and the girls are feeling bright and well this morning and you are managing to grab some time to unwind during your busy season?

I have been desperate to try your formula of a (denim/ plaid) shirt over a lace camisole with pearls. However I'm having no look finding a denim shirt and plaid in Scotland is a no no, do you think I could achieve the same look with a striped city shirt?

I don't really follow celebrity fashion but Kate Moss has been wearing them recently, as only she can, with skin tight leather trousers.

I'm intrigued by your opinion on this trend Angie as this appears to be a street fashion rather than from the catwalk.

The shirt I like is

Would any of the you/ your client's/ the forum wear a city shirt in a casual ensemble?

Thank you in advance

Are you looking for a shirt which is both denim and plaid or one or the other? I know that New Look has some nice plaid shirts at the moment maybe you could try there. I have a fitted sirt sleeved plaid shirt which, not entirely the same but do you think that I could wear it with this style in mind? Hope that you get what you are looking for, the Ben Sherman shirt is lovely though. Asos have some great things at the moment, I believe they now delivery to Dubai aswell!

Thanks M2T, I was referring to a denim or a plaid shirt in the post. Thanks for the tip, I will grab a look at New Look the next time I'm passing.

I second New look. They had loads of denim shirts when i was in there this week would have bought one but they didn't have a style i was happy with. A word of warning take care with the ones which have popper fastenings several popped off in the changing room! x

Louise, I checked New Look this afternoon, they have not appeared in store her yet, however it is a town rather than a city store so I will keep trying.

Shiny, the EB shirt is lovely, I like the western details and would wear this shirt. The postage to the UK was $40.00 which seemed a little excessive for a $49.00 shirt.

Julie, I don't know how well it fits the formula but I really like the Ben Sherman shirt you posted. I have a soft spot for striped woven shirts, I love the contrast of the masculine stripes on a woman. So even if it doesn't strictly fit the formula you could still try it!

Thanks for checking in, Julie. You are a honey and we’re so lucky to have wise and wonderful you on this forum. We are well, but busier than ever at the moment. Many days of running around like a chicken without a head and my Dad comes on Monday and will visit for a fortnight, so it's about to get even busier. No rest for the wicked!

I love your creative thinking on this formula especially if you find a tunic length and belt it. It gets my blessing, especially on a stylish lass such as yourself! As a shirt gal, I’ve tried on the Ben Sherman shirt you've linked to :0)

Thanks Angie, I'm liking this Topshop one

so will probably give the look a whirl.

I hope you have a fantastic time when your father visits, I can bet he loves to spoil his DD.
