Finding and understanding your body type

Ask Angie: Big, warm cardis ... Love or hate?

Recently I have been imagining myself wrapped in long warm cardis (the school is cold lots of the time). I have seen this look on lots of people lately and I don't want to look trendy, rather unique. Thoughts?

Could you find examples online of the kind of cardigans you are thinking about and post them here? I'm having a hard time picturing the cardis exactly. :)

I think you might pull it off if you keep the bottom half streamlined- slim trousers, pencil skirt, skinnies etc as there will be a lot of voloume in the cardi x

I know...It's too cold already, and at home I wear a shawl that's the size of a blanket...But remember, it's the nature of the fiber that keeps you warm, not just the volume. You can be surprisingly warm and cozy in lightweight merino wool or cashmere. And if your neck is wrapped up in something--even a lightweight fabric--you'll feel warmer, too.

If it's warmth you're after can i suggest thermal underwear and lots of thin layers. This is much warmer because it traps a layer of air in between each layer. We went through a cold winter with duff heating at work and i wore thermals, knee high socks, tshirt and cardi layer then a scarf to top it off and was lovely and snug x

I was going to suggest what Ana has. May we see links to these cardis online?

I do love their warmth (and the fact that they cover my long torso with no cold gaps around the waist) and coziness, but I think they can easily tend towards making the wearer look dumpy.

Mine was a real cheapie bought last year, and has fuzzed and pilled so badly I don't wear it much out - but it makes a great warm layer for my cold winter house

I think it could be cute in the right outfit. Like Louise mentioned, slim on bottom. Maybe add some hip boots and fun jewelry to avoid the "dumpy" effect.

Coatigans seem to having a bit of a fashion moment. I think if you treat them in the same way as you would a coat it should be okay.

With regards to wearing them in the house, I have a wrapover maternity version from when I had DD1 two years ago and I lounge in at allot through the winter.

Why run the central heating when you can add another layer?
