Ask Angie and others: leather handbags

I'm on the lookout for a real leather handbag for fall. This morning my search led me to the J.W. Hulme website which offers exactly what I'm looking for, but wow, the prices! I'm swooning over the full size Lyndal bucket bag in saddle: http://www.jwhulmeco.com/Lynda...../94155.htm

I also found the Mette Leather bucket bag at Skagen: http://www.skagen.com/us/en/wo.....ather-buck I love my Skagen watch, but I've never seen their bags.

Do you have experience with either of these brands or can you suggest an alternative?

Two other brands: Frank Clegg and Lotuff. (They used to be Lotuff and Clegg.)

Not inexpensive but classic, beautifully made bags.

I have no experience with these particular brands, but am a great Furla and L.A.M.B. handbag fan. J.Crew does gorgeous bags too, as does Alexander Wang, L.K. Bennet, Kate Spade and Marc Jacobs.

I am looking closely at Skagen too, as I love their aesthetic. They have them at The Bay here in Canada, so I may order one and check it out.

I have a Hulme bag, and my folks have several (both totes, leather & canvas/leather). The quality is amazing. Incredible. thick soft leather. the prices have increased significantly over the last few years since I received mine, but it is a lifetime purchase and they sometimes have sales

I visited the Skagen store in Denmark last summer & swooned over the bags, very soft leather & nice minimal designs. very lightweight. Several styles have been carried by nordstrom. & I have seen both brands available on ebay at good prices.

I have a Skagen satchel in light grey and love it. Soft leather, simple design, love, love, love It is my "summer" bag, used it for about 3 months so far and can't comment on how it will hold up in a long run.

Ive drooled over the hulme and frank Gregg websites a few times. One issue that has held me back is the bags on both sites look heavy. I wish they gave the weight well as the sizes

Yes, as much as I love the look of heavy, pebbled grain leather, I just can't take the weight with add much as I stuff in my bags!
@irina and @rebekahphoto / glad to hear the Skagen bags are light and good quality. They sound like the bags I love from m0851 (you should check out that site, Zibbets / similar clean and classic designs and incredible leather.)

I'm still hoping to see and touch one of the m0851 bags one of these days. They are definitely not cheap but they are very beautiful.

Have you looked at Fossil? Although I adore vintage Coach, I have several leather Fossil bags. They are lightweight and less expensive, but very functional with lots of pockets both inside and out. I have a couple like this one. I feel like they are not so precious that I have to take extra care with them.

Kkards and Roxana, I agree. Too heavy would be a deal breaker. I checked out the m0851 bags, and they are lovely, although not exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for the suggestion!

JAileen, Fossil was my go-to for the longest time! I lovelovelove their bags. I can't seem to find a Fossil that has just the shape I'm looking for right now.
