Received as a gift but can return back to store... Is it a good piece?
Can't think of wearing in summer or high winters, so only 4 months at max? Lifestyle is more formal + lounge... Please advice.
Colour on right is due to less light. On left is true colour.

I like it, but I will confess I don't wear denim jackets. They don't keep me warm, but can make me hot, and I'm not casual quite in that way.

Only 4 months? Formal lifestyle? I am not sure it is the right thing for you ...

i wear denim jackets as blazer/cardigans not as true outerwear...so for me this would be a year round style....but that's me.....if you are thinking of it as outerwear, yes it's probably pretty limited

I Wear denim jackets on jeans in winter season, they keep warm , and gives cool and trendy style.

I have your same seasonal "restrictions" for wearing things....and am wondering if you might get more wear out of a denim jacket in a classic cut and style (i.e. that you would see from the Gap, or Old Navy etc) that would lend itself to more styling options?

I think I'd return - sounds like you are iffy on using it much and that doesn't really earn it a place in your wardrobe. I'm assuming you have tried it on with some of the items in your closet of course. For me "lounge" is more comfy soft cotton-fleece type jackets and "formal" is not denim unless it's really polished dark denim maybe.

Rachylou, sisi, Kkards, texstyle,Suz, yes. I'm iffy. Actually it's a gift and I just wanted to see if I can make do with it before making returns...
Aakansha, lisap, I used to have a black cord jacket that I used for 8 yrs before I gave it away. The thing is it was blazer cut and full sleeve, with functional buttons. This is 3/4 sleeves. Screams casual. So not sure.

Its close to 100 F out here. I can't think straight about jackets.

Please ignore that I'm wearing it on M & S pjs.. Which are wonderful for this weather btw.

Do you like it? Will you wear it? It's a rather specific gift. My mother buys me odd clothes (I don't mean this piece is odd, but neither is it classic or a basic), or sometimes tries to pass on things she bought for herself and realized didn't work, and after a few discussions I feel no obligation to wear or keep them anymore. I try to avoid any temptation to pick out clothes for others myself.
I'd have to see it styled to have an opinion - just trying to give you the option of not keeping it, if that's what you want

Jules, I totally get it. I was hoping, if I ever bought a denim jacket, for a classic one. But I do realise now that I'm not that big on hard collars... Something about not liking them at my neck. Must have been choked to death in my previous life...
I think I'm going to do what you said, try it on with proper clothes. Without obligation.
There's something about what Angie said, try it with dresses and skirt. If Angie and others like it, I think it migh just turn out to be that odd wardrobe workhorse.

Promise to post WIWs when that happens.
