Ask Angie: AG Nikki question

Given the 25% off at Shopbop that Marmee just alerted us to, (thank you!!) I'm going to pull the plug on the AG Nikki's. I was just wondering if you could tell me how they compare size wise to the White Kut BF's that we both have. I've been so so so confused about what size to order. If I have to get two, or three, so be it, but I've heard shopbop isn't the fastest with returns, so would rather not have that much money tied up.

Elizabeth, I ordered the Nikkis in a size smaller than my regular size. They fit more like a relaxed skinny than a boyfriend. They don't stretch out much between washing.

I think Marmee may be an outlier ordering smaller than usual with the Nikkis, but I may be wrong about that.

I went with my regular size which lets me start as a relaxed skinny out of the wash and eases into a slouchy skinny pretty quickly.

I believe Angie recommends sizing up in the Nikkis if you want a lot of slouch.

They are a great jean and I agree that they don't stretch out much between washing.

I ordered a size UP. They fit like slouchy skinnies on me. I did not like them as much in my regular size. Most people on this forum did though. So I vote go with your regular size. I do like my stuff roomier than most.

So Angie, yours are a size up from your Kut BF's? I'd like to compare to something concrete, as "normal size" can vary between brands. And I assume from what you're saying that they fit similarily? ie roomy?

Elizabeth, I'd suggest ordering two sizes, just to make sure. No regrets, you know? Shopbop has free returns within 15 days, so seems like it'd be a safe option. I haven't noticed Shopbop being particularly slow with returns...

Can't help you in comparing with the Kuts, but I also ordered my regular size. The waist is not nearly as well fitting as my Lucky straight legs in the same size, but the thighs are about the same. I have the same size in Paiges and COH, but my Joes are a size down. Hope something in there helps.

Carter, thanks for that - unfortunately I don't have any jeans by those brands. And nowhere here to try them either.

Oh well, I will add that if I had sized down to better fit my waist, the calves would have been tighter than I wanted. If I sized up to be looser on my calves, the waist would be big enough for my husband to join me. My calves are slim and my waist/hips are not tiny, so go figure.

Hmmm. It's hard to say. The fits are different and so is the sizing. KUTs are sizes 0, 2,4,6 - and the Nikkis are sized 26, 27, 28. There is no real comparison.

Elizabeth, I don't know if this helps, but my Nikkis are a size 26 and I bought the cuts in a 6. The Kuts are a tiny bit looser than the Nikkis.

And hmm... Carter, you've got me wondering about my calves. Which are NOT slim. I wonder if these pants will work at all?

Oh well, I think I'm at the "oh just go and buy a couple of pairs and set your mind at rest" stage of all this.

I am no help as the fit relates to the Kuts because I haven't bought Kuts in a couple of years. But I can tell you I ordered the Nikki's a size up from my usual premium jean size, and they are quite loose on me. I kind of wish I'd gotten them in my regular size, but maybe I'll get more accustomed to the loose fit and enjoy them in warmer weather.

Oh, my calves are quite average (not slim) and I have no problem with the calf fit in them, just FYI.
