I wear a watch every day. I love the look of watches. They will never be out of fashion for me.

Since I'm a teacher, pulling out my phone to check the time isn't the best modeling for my students. I wear a watch most days and, sadly, a lot of my students comment on it because they've never seen one before--let alone know how to tell time with one! (They're third graders and YES, that is one of the things I teach them.)

What a timely post! I just purchased a swatch watch. It reminded me so much of the watch I used in high school that I couldn't resist. Water resistant so I could swim with it, a small face so it fit my wrist, a second hand - needed by me so I can check pulses and whatnot. Perfect. So, yes! I still wear a watch every day. Wouldn't it be odd to see your doctor checking your pulse while looking at a cell phone? No, no, no......
Watches please! (My favorite is a Bulova, next in line is my Raymond Weil, then my Timex sports watch. I have a GPS watch for logging miles when I run ---- definitely not a fashion item!)

Prior to 2009, I'm not fond of watches. My interest towards watches has
increased, when I got Fastrack analog watch from my brother.
Probably this, http://www.flipkart.com/fastra.....KPZZUQTBVT
From then, I have started my watch collection by purchasing different
watch brands. Now, I wear a watch daily to my work
place. Even at home, If I'm busy in Kitchen with house
hold work, wall clock will be easy for me to look for
time instead of checking phone. I don't think watches
have lost their importance even after using Ipads & Iphones.

Interesting thought, Aziraphale!

I wear my watches as a beautiful accessory, not as an essential timepiece.

I do appreciate the awesome mechanics of winding wrist watches, though!

I love watches. ( I love all accessories and jewelry.). I have a thirty year old Rolex, a Cartier Tank Francaise, and a retro- vintage-y Hamilton. I'm looking for a rose gold watch, but not a huge over sized one. ( small wrists.) I wear a watch every single day. My cell phone, which is definitely not a smart phone, spends its days in my bag. I usually don't even turn it on unless I'm going to make a call. ( I do hate seeing people glued to their phones and not paying attention to those right in front of them.) I wanted a Cartier for years, 30?40?, and bought mine two years ago with a sales bonus I received at work.

Just to report back in... I wore a pretty, over-size rose-gold watch last night to go out.

Even though my watch has a working battery and is set to the right time (this doesn't always happen in my world)... it never occurred to me to actually look at it to check the time. I have a clear recollection of asking my girlfriend what time it was, when I saw her checking her phone. At least twice.

La Belle -- that would be me, too!

I love elegant watches, but I am the Watch Destroyer. Truly. I bash them into things, exploding their parts. I lose them and step on them. And the acid in my skin often kills the batteries before their time. (I was also a flute player with the black smudge on my chin for the same reason).

My parents warned DH (when he was still just a SO) not to buy me that expensive Seiko. But he did, bless him. I still have the box, but the watch died within a year.

Old thread, it looks like

I wear mine as wrist candy. Much like Beth Ann, they die quickly on me. Although, my Movodo is still going strong after a year, which is a record for me with a watch. Might be the 6 months I didn't wear it when I was pregnant and then home with the baby

I love wearing a watch when I'm out. A quick glance at my wrist is convenient and I think of watches as an accessory.
I got a new watch for Christmas.....It was on my wish list.

I love an elegant watch and will never abandon the mid-size Baume & Mercier Riviera I have worn every day for 30 years. I've had to have it sent to Switzerland for rebuilding of its innards twice, but it's been worth it because it's still the perfect style for me. Sometime over the years, B & M redesigned it slightly, but I prefer my original model. Thought I had lost it last year (it was actually on the sink back home), and that nearly broke my heart. Did break my wrist on vacay in Vienna and have switched it to the other wrist because the plate and screws made my wrist a little bigger. Feels weird -- I'll have to dig up one of the links I had removed years ago and have it reinstalled.

The DH has collected Storm watches for lots of years. He likes the techie-ness of them. But I see an iWatch somewhere in his future.
