Because I don't wear jeans very often, I have not purchased any colored denim. However, I have cobalt cropped trousers and now an emerald green skirt, so hopefully colored "bottoms" in general are still on trend!

I just bought burgundy and emerald green. The green may go back though (I have black from same brand - pretty cheap from Target and I think they shrunk) but I will be sporting lots of colored denim this Fall. I like my bright pink and could see wearing a red pair if I could find the right ones.
Big trend that continues in stores for sure but now the addition of ore prints and textures (waxed fabrics, shiny metallic denim, etc.) is pretty big too.

Wear what you love I say!

You know, something about the title of this thread really bugged me, and I think I have figured it out.

Who is "we"?

And, do any of "us" really care if "everyone else" is "over" something?

I'm sure this is going to offend someone, and I am sorry if it does, but I hate the idea of fashion being a massive sheep herd where "we" all march in lockstep to some external dictate of what is "over." It's like living in T.S. Eliot's world where he wonders if he dares to eat a peach. If you like it, wear it, and everyone else can smooch your joyfully self-pleasing butt, I say!

I plan to wear my colored pants until I am sick of them, something bad happens to them, or they look weird *to me,* even if the rest of "us" are all sporting paisley palazzos.

And yes, I did recently post asking if Marc Jacobs was "over." That was less of a, Oh no, should I stop wearing MJ?" And more of a, "Oh no, does everyone not like MJ's jackets *as much as I do*?" Because if something suits me, I've never stopped wearing it, even if the rest of the world has marched on.

Ag, I know 100% that you didn't set out to set me off, so don't mind me. It's like the word jeggings - that makes me froth too!

I just assumed Una was using the "royal 'we'!"

IK, I debated whether to be offended, but it's Sunday morning and I'm just too lazy. ;-P Plus I get what you're saying, so I'll address the underlying issue.

I do care what people here think and what the reasons are. Of course, I'm not going to stop wearing something I truly love because the forum disapproves (Uggs), but I'm interested in the opinions of people whose knowledge and taste I respect. I live in a place where trends are pretty secondary and often irrelevant, and I like to know what's going on out there in the larger world of fashion.

Ultimately I make my own choices but like any other decision I first take into consideration a variety of factors. Even though I dress to please myself, I'd like to do the best job I can of doing that, and this forum is such a great place to get lots of diverse feedback that helps me gauge my own imperfect visions and biases.

I'm especially interested in certain trends right now that really suit me (oversized, hi-low, bright colors) that have not been around in a long time and whether I should be stocking up for the future lest they disappear before I can take full advantage. I can't believe I survived years of low rise jeans and shoulder pads and ditzy florals and empire waists, and I don't intend to live through another dry spell without some serious wardrobe ammo!

AG, so glad you are not offended, it was not aimed at YOU personally. It was more about, hm, why is this making ME bristle? (As a former boss liked to say, It's all about me, you know!) I would hate to think you or anyone else had their bloom busted because "we" turned into some kind of mean-girl clique and dissed someone else's dream outfit.

You're a doll and I adore you. MWAH.

At the risk of sounding obscene, it would take a lot to bust my bloom! MWAH back at ya.

That's right, AG, a bloom is a girls most precious possession! Hold on to it tightly!

And if you are feeling naughty:

Oh boy I hope colored denim is still "in." I just picked up my first pair this weekend and they are quite green.

And here's the dubut of the colored denim I recently acquired. This was an interesting thread to read. IK makes a good point, it's up to the individual to decide how long they want to wear something and if it goes against the status quo, so be it.
