Are these boots keepers? - YouLookFab Forum

I am trying out some Sofft boots that I scored in an great deal on 6 PM, and trying to decide if they are keepers. First of all, the shoes are way comfy. The stacked heel feels MUCH lower than it actually is (based on stomping up and down the stairs & all over the house.) The zipper zips over my muscular calves - another "must" - but fits snugly due to the ruffled goring.

The question is, do they look okay? I'd like to wear them with dresses and skirts, particularly at work, so I'm trying them on with the Classiques Entier sheath dress I got at NAS.

The main thing I'm not sure about with the boots is the slouchy ankle. Frankly, I get slouch with ANY boot because my calves are wide and my ankles are not - I think it's kind of inevitable with me - but I want to make sure that the ankle slouch in an otherwise non-slouchy boot doesn't ruin the silhouette.
If the boots are deemed okay, I'd also like to know if they do actually work with this dress or if they are too casual.

(As for the current state of my boot collection: Until last year, I couldn't find any knee-high boots that I liked & in my low price range that also fit my calves, since I'm typically right in between "regular" and "wide" calf size. I have one pair of mid-brown low heeled equestrian style leather boots for casual wear, and a dark chocolate brown stretchy faux-leather pair that I like for slightly dressier wear.)

To my eye they look fantastic on you. Very flattering. The color is very elongating on your legs. I say keep!

I think the boots are beautiful!! I am not sure about the color with the grey but you could make it work with the right accessories. Dress and boots look beautiful on you!!

Those boots are great and look fantastic on you! I wouldn't worry about the slouching at the ankle. In fact, I recently posted some photos of my new boots and had the same concern-they fit well in the calf but were loose in the ankle. Angie's response was that the slouching wasn't an issue.

The boots look great on you. Wearing them with that dress might depend on the occasion. The right scarf should pull it all together.

Gosh, Jean and Kristen, you might be right about the color. Argh. I guess I was thinking of them as more of a nude color. I'll have to try taking a picture in natural light to see what works since the colors in my dark room often look a lot muddier & muted.

I'm glad that the shape of the boots at least works. If nothing else, even if they don't work with the gray dress, I think I could wear them with many of my pencil skirts and maybe my black dresses if I wear colorful accessories? I guess I'll have to play around with them.

Those boots fit you really well Kari! Definitely a keeper. I however don't have a Euro eye so the combo of gray and tan is not quite working for me

Okay, I tried them out around the house a lot yesterday and decided they are definitely great boots for me. I'm not sure if they are 8-hour boots by Angie's standards (lots of walking around & standing) but I tried them out today at work & afterwards - 14 hours out of the house with some brisk walking - and they were very comfortable, and my feet aren't sore at all.

Thanks so much for the helpful comments about whether the dress & boots will work. Even if combining gray and tan together wasn't unanimously declared a great combination, I decided that it would be an opportunity to try something new. And Angie's comment that they color looked "very Euro" pushed me over the edge to try wearing it to work today. Laura, I have decided that elastic around the top of knee-high boots is perfect for me. My 14.5" calves are usually too small for true wide-calf boots, which are usually 16 inches around or bigger. So I need to scour reviews of regular boots, see which ones "run wide" (and how big the calves of the reviewers are) and determine whether the material & construction will allow for some stretch. Or I can look for wide calf boots that tend to run narrow. It's not foolproof, but at least it lets me figure out what boots are worth trying instead of being consistently disappointed!
