Anyone want to help with white shoe inspiration?

The post-holiday season is slooow. I'm browsing about looking for some outfits to try and copy. Not the easiest thing to find, so maybe they are more of a challenge than it seems. Last pic is what I'm considering.

Bonus points for office-wear!

Well, my dad used to wear white bucks with seersucker suits, but that was in the South a few decades ago!

I once had white leather pumps - but it was the early 90's. I can't really see them in modern outfits, but perhaps my mind goes right back to those post high school shoes automatically.

White shoes have always been a difficult choice for me, but I do have some light-colored cream and taupe spectators that are fun. I am so much on the same page with Rachylou and love the style of the guy in #1 with his taupe jacket, gray pants and white bucks. That's the one I would copy, and don't forget to show your ankles like he does!

Hmm I mostly see white or really light shoes on people with really light hair or really light skin. I included a few that are with darker haired/skinned gals from my giant "I like these outfits!" inspiration folder If I get some free time to browse the web tonight I'll see if there's anything else I can find!

I have a pair of bone white booties, dove gray pumps, and cream snakeskin kitten heels; the booties are the most challenging to style, though on me all three of these shoes function more like a nude than anything. I'm guessing it'll be a bit trickier for you to style with bare legs, but I bet under pants or with tights you could do some fun stuff!

Thanks for the pics and analysis, Aida! It does seem like a lot of these gals are bookending with their hair or face. I will have to make sure my white blouses are clean and ready to be styled. Looks like most of these attempt to lengthen the leg line in some way as well.

Rae, I almost always use both my skin AND a light top to help bookend the light boots (though an all dark outfit with white shoes is pretty awesome too, like Anna's). Your skin is definitely darker than mine but I think a light top + 1 light accessory (jewelry works) might be enough for you? Here are a few of my bone bootie outfits if that helps.

probably not the skin but the bookend. need something light on top since your hair and skin doesn't create the bookend? (I am just learning myself)

You're absolutely right, Jayne. And if I was reading closely, I would have seen that Aida suggested a white top as a solution, too. That man in pic #1, whose outfit is so popular, is even more tanned than I am. All it takes for him are the buttons on his shirt and that white hankerchief in his pocket.

I am armed with pearls, white blouses, gingham blouses, bright silver chains, and a couple of light colored jackets. It should be an interesting experiment!

Thanks everyone! Shipskitty, those are great, and also inspired me to do some polyvore-esque outfits on my Closet Couture account. Big fun! I only wish I had more of my work wardrobe uploaded there.

Jeanne, those are super cool, but my size seems to be gone in every heel this brand makes with the fish scales. If the printed booties still don't work, though, I will have to stalk some fish shoes!

Rae, kinda off topic, sorry -but, do you find uploading Closet Couture pics with you in your clothes works better than just laying them flat? Or is it better to lay the garment flat for the pic so you can layer them up for an outfit? I'm just feeling daunted at the thought of pulling out every article I have. I already have quite a few WIW pics with me in stuff, though. (and I'm cracking up at the flamingo one legged ones!)

Mo, I definitely am too lazy to pull everything out and lay flat, and I also found that the shape of the the garment - especially anything with a more tailored fit - does not come through when laid flat. I don't feel that I get the best idea of how the outfit will look. I'll use the actual promo photos when I can, and if those are long gone, I'll use my WIWs. Going forward, if there is no promo photo, I'll snap a pic of the item on my body.

Anna, I like all of yours, but that KOS version is crazy awesome. The tights are killing me! Now, how to translate that into an office look... hm, I do have a bold white-on-black striped pencil skirt and a bold black-on-white striped button front. A little crazy, but it might work!

I'm totally behind the curve here - are those the 80%20 boots you posted before? Do you have any other light shoes? I find the bookending on my two lighter pairs of footwear really difficult. Since you wear white it may not be an issue for you. I'll have to join the inspiration search!

Una, yes these are the 80%20 Rinas. Angie said to order them and experiment, so I'm giving them a try. I can't tell which promo pictures are the most true to color, but I'm hoping that some are a little blown out due to lighting. I do where white and have several white blouses... we shall see!
