Anyone in the southern hemisphere here?

Hello, everyone,
I just joined today and I've seen a few posts from people in Australia and New Zealand already. I wondered if there are any others out there who are currently experiencing the hot temperatures we have in north eastern Australia? For those of you wrapped in knits in northern climes, it's around 40 degrees celsius here!

Hi and welcome from Melbourne! Yesterday it was 31C, today 18C, so I'm still enjoying some wardrobe variety minus the layers and coats of winter dressing. In Jan, Feb and March I'm sure we'll have more than our share of heat but not usually quite like you have in the north.

Ah! Marvellous Melbourne's ever-changing weather. It can be hard to know how to dress when temps change so dramatically. Cardigan? Raincoat? Shorts or jeans?

I'm not currently in the Southern hemisphere, but I am from the Southern hemisphere... From Brazil. It's always a bit weird traveling back home because the seasons are so inverted (though I so wish I could go visit my family now and get a reprieve from the winter in the US).
When I first moved to the US I got all these people asking me whether it was true that when we flushed the toiled it swirled in the "opposite" direction. Not sure what the "right" direction is supposed to be, and I hadn't even heard that it would change across the Equator!

By the way, I know quite a few Brazilians who went to Australia and NZ and ended up making their home there. I've never been, but it sounds like it would be the best of both worlds--warm and beautiful like Brazil, without the rampant social inequalities...

Hello from NW Tassie where it's 7C . . . I never put my winter woolies away. My first xmas here (2001) was a white one - my parents were in the pool in Bne with high humidity and 39C.
