Angie's minimalist article last week helped me to identify a wardrobe hole I'd been struggling with for several weeks. Her defition was "shorter and more flattering cropped length on the jeans, trendy trapeze T-shirt with playful drape and bare forearms, statement bag, flat sandals low contrasts to jeans". The thing I do not have is the top. So, hole identified!
My interpretation is not truly minimal, but it IS inspired by it.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

While I was going through this exercise I further refined the definition for me (and wrote it down)

1. Dark solid; ok to have a little detail and/or texture
2. Fabric suited to all the but the hottest summer days, or for indoors in AC. I run cold so I can wear longer sleeves in summer than some
3. Shape a bit loose not too form fitting
4. Moderate to high neckline or split neck. Not a lower curved neckline or a vneck or a collar.
5. No ruffles, gathered sleeve cuffs, gathered necklines, embroidery, prints or stripes
6. No Henley, peasant, or tunic top
7. I would wear any necklace(s) on the outside

...I had these in my closet

#1 Dark red textured top 3/4 sleeve- Anthro - not really a summer color but I could certainly wear it. Texture not very visible in this pic. Love this top get huge compliments every time I wear it.
#2 Navy Linen vneck sweater - talbots (thrifted)
#3 Grey long sleeve with slight pattern; not really a flowy top and maybe a bit too casual
#4 Black 3/4 sleeved sweater; ok but again not very flowy and a poly knit so not for warm weather.

...and I ordered these...

#5 silver top - metallic fabic.
#6 navy top with chiffon hem...seems ok but I'm wondering if that hem is putting a little too much emphasis on hip area...with a couple of gold pendants maybe would be better to draw the eye up
