Look what I just saw at J. Crew...anyone seen in person? I really like the style.

I seriously think Brooklyn needs that knit VC shirt, don't you? I have to add that is tempting me as well and I've had no green in my wardrobe for years!

Also, has anyone seen the Lady Day coat in the fuschia blossom in person? Is it super neon and more red, or does it veer more pink in person?

Despite my recent coat blitz (file this under 'Hypocrite') I would wait on new coats until you decide whether you are moving or not. For me, the weight of coat is so dependent on the environment I'm in, and it's so hard to know that until you are there. Coats are such investment pieces - you don't want to make costly mistakes!

I tried on the lady day coat in the pink. It was a very bright and intense color, more so than I like. I think neon could describe it. It's a very cool toned fuschia. Not reddish at all IMO. I think it would look great if you have the right coloring. The tall size arm length was perfect. The A-line portion at the bottom looked awkwardly large on my frame. I do better with a straighter cut. Maybe it's a good coat for someone curvy?

I have my eye on that herringbone pea coat but there are no tall sizes. Wah!

Both coats are gorgeous Suz, and I really love both colors.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a question for Staysfit who tried on the lady day coat in tall: are the tall sizes in J Crew coats larger then their regular sizes or only longer? Would 2 tall fit similarly to 2 or 4 regular? According to the size chart the tall and regulars should fit the same but in my experience with manufacturers that is rarely the case. I am not tall but have extremely long torso so I find that tall sizes fit me better with coats/dresses that have waist definition. I am considering the lady day coat in blue as birthday present to myself

Tanya, The torso is also proportioned longer. So the darts and waist on a regular 2 would hit in a different place than a tall 2. I often try both sizes though because with J Crew, garment sizing has been inconsistent. Each item is different.

I would say that a tall 2 is more comparable to a regular 2 than a 4. The talls are not wider. The shoulders of both tall and regular in the same size fit the same.

Staysfit, thank you so much for the info, that is very helpful. I was hoping for the longer torso, that would be the whole purpose of ordering tall. It seems that I should go to the store and try the regular size and then order the same size in tall should I decide to try the coat.

Gorgeous all around. It is so lovely to see some different colours - here right now the shops are full of blacks and very light neutrals, both which I do wear, but I am a little sick of!!

Oh, funny, I just realized I took a pic of myself in the pink lady coat. In bare feet. I didn't like it at all. It's gone, but you can see the color. For comparison, I am including a pic of pink dress I like. The proportions are just wrong for me!

Oh, thank you for the photo! I really like this coat on you as well and the colour is lovely on you (and much different than online somehow -- it's bright but looks less neon). The coat seems to fit you very well. I would not say you look stumpified (that would be difficult for you!!) I do think it is hard to judge a coat when one is barefoot. Even wearing flats creates a different proportion, and I find also wearing the coat as you would wear it (i.e. a button undone at collar, or collar popped, with hat or scarf gloves, etc.) gives a much clearer impression of how the coat might actually work.

Thanks Suz. I should remember to wear shoes, etc. when I try things on. This is a post surgery pic. I had already decided to reject the coat. I'm glad you like the color. I felt it was too bright. I think it was very neon and my guess was I would feel too self conscious wearing it.
