Inge, you have got to get them with the zipper. Even the 16 hole cherry pair I tried with no zipper was a big pain. Having said that, I like every pair so I'm not going to be much help. I feel like the patent would be the most stand out and I'm curious what Angie will have to say about that. I'd also put the plain black pair at the bottom of the list because I'm hoping you'll be a little more adventurous. ;)

Smile Patience, you're right of course (about being a little more adventurous), and ideally I would get both a black pair and the red ones, but for now I have to think a little practical too. So I'm trying to decide which colour would be the most versatile + I really want them to work with my skinnies...

Inge, I have to echo Patience and say that if my Docs had no zippers I would wear them much less often in bad weather, since it would be such a pain to take them on and off coming in and out of the house in rain, slush, snow and more. The zippers are a must-have feature, for me at least.

Those red ones are dark enough that I think you would still get a nice long leg line while keeping your patented Inge style. :)

I vote for silver ones, too. I've seen them in a store and I think they would look great with your purple coat, too. They are the only ones that don't have contrast stitching.
I also would suggest getting them with a zipper - you'd hate them and yourself after lacing them a couple of times.

First I'd definitely agree to get them with zipper - it would be a real pain without.

As for the color, I am obviously subjective so am going to suggest silver, but i really like the dark cherry red too.

Inge, I'm so glad you're getting the Docs. I'm afraid I'm of no help with picking colors, I'm terribly indecisive myself. I think you'd look great in both black and red and black/silver.

Hmmm. I really see you in the red, but because of the purple coat, I say black or silver. I'm sort of leaning towards silver for your style and because you have a pair of black boots already. Right that’s my decision – silver!

Exciting Inge!!! I'm going to splash on a pair too when it comes closer to winter round these parts - I have doc envy after seeing all the lovely pics posted here!!! Personally I have fallen head over heels in love with Tanya's silver pair so that's what I'll be aiming for.

Cherry colour is gorgeous too, but could be an issue with purple coat. Black is always safe, but you can get plenty of other black boots too, depends on how many pairs of boots you want! As for black patent, the idea intrigues me but I have never been a patent person so don't really know!!

I had never seen any with zips until this year, and have to admit that at first I thought the zips looked really ugly. But lacing and unlacing 14 holes is pain enough, so I think their practicality for 20 holes is winning me over. Especially if you ever plan to go shopping in them. Warning: don't try taking off pants over the top of them unless they are very wide-legged!!!

I vote silver with your style and the color palette you like to wear. I think they'd be very versatile. How exciting! :D

Well Inge, you know I adore patent and I like the patent docs too. But I feel it's truer to the docs look to keep them "tough looking". Although I’m not opposed to the patent at all. I saw them in stores in HK and several people were wearing them as well. I preferred the white patent actually and can’t tell you why!

Thanks for your input Angie. I agree on the keep them "tough looking" part, and I'm the same: often I instantly know I like/dislike something, but couldn't for the life of me tell you exactly why that is.

Well, you can expect pictures soon. The silver Docs have been ordered. Fingers crossed they'll fit, I ordered the UK5.
