Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Am I on the right track?

I'm a rectangular hourglass...should I post a pic? I feel like you all have seen so much of me over the past two days!

What do you think of these? Am I on the right track? These all look like good layering pieces I think. Opinions on colors and syle are welcome!

Brandy, I think you've got some nice things picked out. I like the first dress and the last three shirts. The blue dress is pretty and you'd just have to try it on. The length concerns me a little, but you are handy with the sewing machine so you could possibly alter it yourself so it hits you at the best length for you. The ruffle sleeveless shirt could work, you'll just have to try it. I like the colors you've linked to, are those the one's your planning on getting? I like the red patterned tie shirt better than the black, but that's my own personal preference.

I think you're definitely on the right track. Not sure how the pockets on the first dress will look once you've got it on (they could hit you right on the hips and puff out), but like the things you've picked out. The color of the petal top is so pretty.

I think you're a quick study....

I'd just be careful about too much gathering in the wrong places...and like Ana said...watch out for pockets. Ideally, you don't want pockets on any part of the body that you are trying to minimize. OTH, you do want pockets on areas you are trying to balance out. It's not just about minimizing certain areas..it's also about making other areas look more in proportion. For instance, I am an inverted triangle--extremely so. I wear a 14 on top and an 8 on the bottom. So not only do I have to try to minimize the appearance of my bust, I also have to maximize the appearance of my hips...all while accentuating my waist. If I had a smaller bust, I'd still be an inverted triangle, but to a lesser degree.

Well done. Bar the green gathered top, you are getting there.

I echo what the lasses have said. They are so clever.

I'd be careful of the first dress...all that gathering around the waist rarely looks good on anyone. I think you're definitely starting to pick out things to flatter your figure, though.

I like the blue dress and the last three tops. With the first dress it looks like you were going for sort of a casual comfy summer dress? I think there are probably better options, this one is not my favourite.

Great choices. I like them all other than the green top. You certainly are on the right track.
