Descriptions of your daily ensembles

AJ Recent Outfits

As you will see, I have pretty much established a "uniform" with the clothes that I brought with me -- sweater over turtleneck with jeans. With five sweaters and seven turtlenecks, I suspect that I will be a bit bored with my clothes by the time the weather warms up. I am trying to continually rotate the combinations. And today I braved the cold in a skirt.

Here are a few outfits from the past few days. Comments welcome, especially on Tuesday's outfit.

Saturday 1/24 -- I was invited to join a private tour of the reconstruction of a palace. It turned out to be more of a construction site than I had been led to believe. I was glad I wore jeans tucked into boots -- but I could have used my hiking boots!

Sunday 1/25 -- a trip downtown

Monday 1/26 -- my birthday; my neighbor and I went to a huge mall on the outskirts of town, had lunch, and went bowling. In the evening we went to an Indian restaurant that was really good.

Tuesday 1/27 - I attended the International Women of Vilnius luncheon. There were 10 of us (apparently the size of the group various), mostly women affiliated with embassies here in Vilnius. It's definitely an international group; today there were 3 Americans, a British woman, a Swedish woman, a German woman and an Irish woman, plus 3 Lithuanian women.

I really liked this Mango cardigan when I bought it in San Francisco last October. But it has already become a bit of a closet orphan. It just never seems right when I wear it over a long top with jeans. and even with the skirt it seems a bit off to me. Looking at the photo, I wonder if the sleeves are too puffy. I'm not sure if this cardigan isn't a good style for me or if I just haven't figured out how to wear it. I also think the gold necklace was a bit too bright.

Aj, all of your outfits are really lovely! I really like your signature outfit od sweaters and jeans and boots. I actually really like the skirt outfit, and the Mango cardigan in general. Actually I have liked every outfit so far you have posted with it.

I am also really enjoying your description of daily activities. I'd be curious to know more about what their malls are like and what type of stores they have.

AJ - I think you look great! My faves are Saturday and Monday. I am impressed with how well you packed because you look very put together every day which I don't think is easy when you are away from home.

I'd never guess you are dressing from a limited selection of clothes. You are making all of these outfits look great!

I really like your boots. You look great in your outfits. I second Tayna's comment on what it is like there.

Wow you look awesome AJ! Lithuania is good to you! :D

I like the sweater cardi on Tuesday. I don't think the sleeves are too voluminous. You are tall and thin and carry the volume well. I like how you paired it with green--such a pretty combo. I like the high waisted skirt too. Maybe try to balance out the cardigan by letting a little of the shirt underneath peek out? I don't think it's necessary, but maybe that will create the balance you're looking for.

I think you look great and appropriate for the weather there. I remember when I was living in Poland during a freezing cold January; I was wearing so many layers I probably looked like the Abominable Snowman or something. :-) You're definitely dealing in the cold in a more chic way than I did.

Ooh do you have the shop Reserved there? It was one of my favourite shops in Krakow, and I know they have branches in Prague and and Olomouc.

Hello AJ. I'm sorry I missed your birthday post (I read it at work), so happy belated birthday!

I think you are handling the cold with serious style. You look very sleek!

I had a hard time seeing the color in the photographs. I liked the bootcut jeans the best on you. The boots you have are really beautiful so I can understand why you tucked your jeans in. I think that a leather coat that wraps and ties at the waist would compliment the skirt better than the coat you have on with it here. Now I know you are overseas and it is cold. Im just thinking if you happen to see one and decide to treat yourself. I like you in turtlenecks too.

You have really got the jeans and boots down beautifully. I'm drooling over your red/brown Santana boots, the gray La Canadiene are also beautiful. You look very good and balanced in all the jeans outfits.
The skirt outfit looks out of balance to me. Maybe a longer top showing under the bottom of the sweater would work well as a layering piece to make a longer line for the eye. I do love all the pieces including the Mango sweater and the gold necklace. Love all the colors in the outfit. Love all your necklaces.

You are looking very stylish while staying warm. I love your boots! I also like hearing about your daily activities. Thanks for sharing. :)

Your boots are gorgeous, that cashmere wrap sweater is gorgeous... and you've been looking fantastic in all your pictures Aj. I too am impressed that you manage to pull this off with a limited wardrobe!!

I'd give San's suggestion a try: wearing the cardigan with a longer top (or maybe a button-down shirt?) that peeks out underneath, will create a longer line and might balance things out more.

The luncheon sounds interesting and you mentioning that Indian restaurant is making me hungry, again;-)

AJ, you've found a uniform that works for you and you've done a great job of changing the combinations for new looks. I am seriously envious of both pairs of boots! Do you have a silk base layer you could wear under a lighter-weight long-sleeved top? Doing that plus a neck scarf (all with the heavier sweater) might provide an alternative to the turtleneck + sweater look if you get bored.

Thanks everyone -- I like Tanya's description of "signature" look, it sounds so much more stylish than uniform.

I always have cuddle-duds long underwear on -- and I do feel like I have a lot of padding in my outfits. My woven shirts all have necklines that are too low to wear with the long underwear top; but I might try to wear a turtleneck, collared shirt and sweater. I've been afraid that many layers would look too bulky. It's worth trying though -- it would give me some more options.

AJ-You look so long and lean in all your outfits! Love the combinations you have put together-you look very stylish each day. Thanks for sharing!

You certainly have a talent for mixing and matching! You look great each day and I love your boots. Happy belated birthday!

AJ, you look so stylish and polished! The turtleneck-necklace-sweater-skirt/skinnes-boots combo works like a charm for you.

I'm not a fan of the Mango cardi. It seems to slump down at the waist, which is also right where the voluminous sleeves end. This makes you look much bulkier at the waist than you actually are (as all your other sleek outfits show!). Maybe that's why you're having trouble with it? I'd let it go.

Aj, you are developing a great little arty edge to you look. I like it! Every day looks great. You are fab.

And you look killer in those boots. My word!

AJ, You are looking smarter and more stylish than ever. Lithuania seems to be agreeing with you. Love the fact that you are still posting and sharing. And I have to agree with Angie about those boots. They are, indeed, killer! You look at least 10 years younger than when I initially saw your posts, and you are positively glowing.
