AJ - 2 pre-YLF tops

This week I wore two pre-YLF tops and would like feedback on them.

1) Brown DKNY sweater tunic -- with pink cami, skinny jeans, brown Privo flats, 1926 necklace and earrings.

The sweater has reddish-gold threads in the neckline so I've had a difficult time deciding what color cami to wear with it and always default to the pink. Close-up of neckline with threads:

2) Orvis tapestry vest -- with black long-sleeve tee, Joe's jeans, black pumps. I usually wear this vest over a black turtleneck top but mine is faded and I haven't replaced it yet.

Thanks for your thoughts on whether these two tops work.

Hi AJ, I think the brown tunic sweater is nice. In addition to pink, how about yellow, red, or even green for a camisole color? Also, have you tried a belt with it? Not sure it would work, but might be worth a try.

I'm not a fan of the vest. I think it is not a flattering piece of clothing; it reminds me of upholstery fabric. Sorry, I realize this is blunt, but I had a pretty immediate strong reaction.

I agree with Antje, I like that brown tunic and I am not a fan of the vest. In addition to all the great suggestions Antje has already made, how about teal/turquoise for cami under the tunic?

First picture, I thought wow Aj looks good in everything. Are that necklace and earrings really from 1926? Love!

Second picture, I am a sucker for tapestry fabric. I love it, and I would be just like you, wondering if I should or shouldn't wear it. Right now, today, I do not think the style or the cut is the best, but if I were you I'd put it back in the closet and bring it out in another few years to see if it makes a resurgence.
I have a tapestry fabric vest my Mom gave me many years ago. How could I get rid of something so beautiful, but I never wore it. It was too big for one thing. I just the other day put it in the give away box. Farewell, finally.
If you truely love the fabric, rather than give it away, make a beautiful pillow out of it. Enjoy the fabric one way or another.

I love your brown tunic top and that whole outfit! As for matching colours with the neckline flecks, if you have to get that close up to see the colour, I think you shouldn't worry too much about co-ordinating with the flecks!

Colours I love against dark brown are: purple, teal, apricot, beige, deep blue.

As for accessories I wonder what a colourful chunkier necklace would look like? Or maybe a bright scarf?

Re the vest in 2), I don't profess to know anything about vests so will not comment. Comparing the silhouettes from both outfits though I think it does add bulk, but then again most warmer clothes do, don't they?

AJ, I like the brown tunic and you've gotten some wonderful suggestions as to colors to pair with it.

I don't think the tapestry vest does you justice; it hides your curves. I'm also not sure the higher neck is as flattering on you as the v-necks we've seen you in, but if you love it, maybe you could look into having the waist part taken in a bit to make the silhouette more shaped?

I'm not at all attached to the vest. I've had it for years -- I think it might even be a hand-me down from my mom. And thanks for the honest feedback on it; that's why I love YLF, you all will let me know if something doesn't work!

Since the brown sweater tunic got approval, I'll experiment with some other colors under it.

The necklace and earrings are made by a jewelry company called "1928" -- they make vintage looking jewelry. I have a few necklaces by them.

AJ, I agree with the others that the tunic is really nice. I think you have quite a few possibilities for colors underneath. That will be a fun piece.

I agree with your decision to let the vest go, I think you have other things that are more "you" and do more justice to your figure.

I'm agreeing with the others and also think a chunky necklace or scarf would look great with the tunic. Purple or fushia with the brown would be beautiful.

Maybe I'm weird but I actually like the vest. I do think you have to feel like it's you and that a turtleneck would be better. But I like it because it really stands out. The tunic is nice but not as interesting to me.

I’m glad you’re not attached to the body warmer cause it’s not your best. Seems to fit quite well though!
