Accessories for wedding outfit Ask Angie:

Hi I am going to a wedding and have bought this dress,

its main colour is red and white , I quite fancy a red hatinator / shoes but not sure whether this would be too much , any advice gratefully received, thanks

Not Angie -- but just wanted to say that she is on holiday now and may not see your post.

Pretty dress you have chosen!

For my own taste red hat and shoes would be a bit much with this -- I would prefer to go with something else. Possibly a white hat (if that is okay at a wedding?) and maybe metallic shoes? Or you could go red with the shoes. Another option would be a different bright (e.g. cobalt) or navy.

Hi Thanks for your reply I was thinking of navy as already have navy fascinator and shoes so just bag to buy but when I was in a 'good' dress shop near where I live they thought Navy accessories would not look 'classy'! I think I fancied red as tried a fascinator on in bright red and it suited me May just have to take the dress with me and try different colours.

Navy doesn't appeal to me either, I can't speak to "classy" but I'm thinking it might be too heavy with the dress. Red fascinator and nude shoes? Pale blue fascinator and red shoes?

Thanks Isabel, I have tried on with Navy hat and does look a bit dark, there is a slight touch of coral and burnt orange/brown in the dress so may look at these, think I just had my heart set on that red fascinator

Well, if it looked good on you, go for it! A fascinator is not the same as a hat, IMO -- the colour "value" will be different -- and if you choose a shoe in a different colour or neutral, you'll be golden (so to speak).

What about your bag?

I love it when people wear facinators. They're just so pretty and when else do you get to wear one? Unless it's a really casual wedding, I say go for it!

Thanks all for replying, I think , looking at some websites, you would call the fascinator a hatinator! not very big and secured with headband. I was thinking of red accessories , dominant colours red and white but with bits of coral/orangey-brown but advice suggests this may be too much ........getting more confused , wish someone fashionable and stylish could dress me
