A failure to spend $$

For various crazy reasons, I needed/would have liked to have spent some money by today - you know, get dated receipts in hand - specifically on an auto repair and a programming course. But no one wants to take my money!

My mechanic was all *What am I going to do with your money? I have to diagnose the problem first.*

Argh. I know I know... but wouldn't you like just a little?

The course people were all we'll send you a bill!

And I'm like why not take my money now?

What is wrong with these people? TAKE THE MONEY!!! Lol.

In a similar vein, there are times when I am waiting for the bills to hurry up and arrive!
I need to pay them before I can calculate how much to sock away. that month...

I am wondering what was the impetus for you to get that money out of your account

Gosh, yes. I need to pay stuff and they're all "we'll send a bill" and I'm like

BUT HOW DO I KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY I HAVE TO SPEND ON SHOES IF YOU DONT TAKE THIS MONEY NOW

And I have to guess how much money I have to spend on shoes and sometimes they just have to wait for their money since they wouldn't take it when I had it LOL

Oh, I'm being emotional. I set some deadlines in my head. Like, my car didn't pass smog check because the engine light came on... which it does in crazy weather like we're having... so while my registration is paid, I don't have stickers. I wanted that done today. And my mechanic is so, I don't know, unwilling to take money for no reason. He won't pretend to work on it like the dealer would. And his process is so Byzantine. He switched off the light and I'm to drive around a few days and then take it back. And then I'm supposed to drive around another few days before retest, after he does whatever he does. AND I don't feel I can move on to my other to do's until these things are underway.

How annoying for you! It sounds like he knows your car and what needs to be done to get your sticker. Would he give you an estimate?

He won't give me an estimate in writing until Monday, when the test is complete! Lol. He knows what he's doing (I think) and doesn't do unnecessary things... but sometimes a girl just wants to leave the car and have it dealt with. But that's the reason I don't go to the dealer here - they won't speak to you and charge $185 just for coming in - or the guys up the street, who'll want to replace one of the doors because the trim's broken. I live in hippie town - a too tidy car signals the wrong thing...

In 2012 we did a pretty extensive landscaping project The contractor billed us along the way for about 3/4 of it, and then never sent another bill. We've been holding that money aside for 5 years.
I guess it is a good thing - but it drives both my husband and me CRAZY! We keep thinking how much those $ would have grown if they had been in the stock market!

ETA-and yes, I would have spent the profits on shoes, or maybe a bag!

Gah! 3 years ago when I bought my car, I wanted to pay it in full, but maybe get a deal, but noooo. Instead I have to pay it off over 3 years at 0% interest! The last payment is next month. Then there is the 5 year bumper to bumper warranty!

Ohmigosh. Something like that happened to me. My car was my first big purchase and my chance to build credit. I could have just bought it. But I financed part of it. I agreed to some sort of coating on the upholstery... and they lumped that in with the loan part without asking. That totally irritated me. I guess they made more money off me that way? I don't think I was a money maker for them - I didn't buy off the lot.

Just an update: My car guy apparently likes to work for free. He's sent me for a smog check now, still not taking my car or money. I have to come back another day for a tune up and now also to get my trunk door open. I think he just doesn't want to write up a bill - not computerised and he takes like an hour to do the form. If this keeps up, gonna have to go to the smarmy guys up the street. Who will sell me new floor mats whether I want them or not...lol.

And I'm not convinced I'm gonna pass smog. I think the engine is misfiring. It says so on the paper.
