A couple of outfits from last week (including a white dress)

Here are a couple of outfits I wore this week. First up is a look that I would have never tried if not for ylf – white skinny jeans & a tunic tee. I was very much inspired by a tunic tee that Jean/GreenGlove posted which she paired with clamdiggers and a scarf. It’s much too warm for a scarf so I opted for a longer, multi-layered necklace instead. The tee is from Anthropologie and is actually more of a navy than a purple as it appears in the photo. It features hip pockets and has an asymmetrical hemline. The skinnies are from F21 of all places – not really the best quality but it was a cheap way for me to experiment. If the look passes muster, I might invest in a better pair.

This is however a tee and jeans - not really following ylf rules, is it? Does the necklace dress it up enough? Any other options/suggestions?

Next is a dress that I bought at J Crew awhile back. I commented about this dress on Patience’s thread about white dresses. It’s a 100% cotton – not a knit! It’s very light & summery and casual and has an eyelet inset panel. It’s sort of a halter neck and with my shoulders & arms, I never go sleeveless so I threw on this short sleeved cardi & some gold medallion type earrings. I added a gold cuff before and had a different pair of sandals when I went out (wore the flip flops for going out on the deck).

I realize that I have been wearing a lot of white lately. So far so good with mixing white and MOTG activities. I wore white clamdiggers to my son's soccer game/party on Friday and I did end up getting squirted with some red popsicle juice but it came out in the wash so no worries! At least for casual wear, knowing that I can hit any of these items with my Clorox Bleach pen gives me some peace of mind.

Beautiful! I like both outfits. To me the tunic looks great with your choice of necklace. That really elevates the style. I wonder what Angie will say since it is a T shirt as you say.
The dress and blue cari is so pretty and summery. It looks great on you. Lova lova.

I like both of your outfits Shana, very summery!

Very pretty! The purple color in the pic looks awesome on you, even though it sounds like its not what it looks it irl. I think skinnies looks great, I really like the silhouette of the first outfit on you.
I also love wearing white in summer, and bleach pen is my friend. How are your feet?

Lovely, The white jeans look great on you!

Both outfits are great, Shana. I think the pockets and the necklace make the tunic tee work. Thanks for sharing the white dress. I dug up a white dress I got in my last pregnancy (apparently being pregnant makes me want to wear white dresses ;p). It has spaghetti straps which I wasn't too thrilled about, but I threw a navy short sleeve cardigan over it and took to heart your clorox bleach pen suggestion. I was quite pleased with the result (and I guess I looked quite similar to you but for a fuller skirt). And even though I did get some stains, I wasn't too concerned. Go white! I haven't decided about the IO dress yet, though.

You look great! I love the dress!

LOVE the tunic tee and white jeans! Both outfits are wonderfully summery and breezy.

"passes muster", are you kidding!-) I love that purple with the white skinny jeans (which look a-ma-zing on you by the way!)! In this outfit I don't mind the T-shirt fabric at all, curious to hear Angie's thoughts on this. The necklace is a lovely finishing touch.

And you look gorgeous in that white dress too Shana! Love how you've paired it with a cardi in that "strong" blue as well.

Shana! The first outfit is KILLER. That’s not jeans and a T shirt AT ALL. It’s jeans and a tunic and the knit has interest and detail so it’s a knitted top. Love this look on you! Well done :0)

And I adore the white dress. So pretty and fresh against your skin tone. Woohoooo!

Shana I really like both outfits!! Casual but still both elegant - maybe it is the white that helps with that, or maybe it is just you!!

Love that Anthro top shana! I really like that look for you, and I think the skinnies look great, stock up! Love your white dress too, you wear it so well :-)

Thanks ladies - I am blushing from all the compliments. That first look was really outside the box for me (yes, I am very boring). Usually when I wear a "tunic" top, it is an Indian style one with longer sleeves. I did quite a bit of experimenting with the skinnies and found that a mid-thigh or longer top was the most flattering (realized that although my hips are slim, my thighs are a little too full to wear skinnies with a shorter top). Anyway, while I felt pretty good, I was worried that I looked a little too "juniors" if that makes any sense.

Patience, this dress might as well be maternity - it's pretty floaty on me. You should check out some of the J Crew dresses - so many of them seem well suited for maternity this year!

Marianne, thanks for asking. My feet are better this week (but now it's my elbows & knees that are killing me). I've been very careful to stick with roomy/open flats for now. My Danskos arrived a few days ago and I have been vacillating over whether I should keep them. My doctor's appointment has been rescheduled until Sept.14 (duh, I initially made it for when I was going to be in Europe). In the meantime, I am trying to get an appointment with a highly respected local homepath. Hopefully I can get some answers soon....

I'm sorry you're battling with your limbs, Shana. Horrid :0(. Good luck with the doctors app's and let us know how it goes.

But you crack me up. You have a dry sense of humour and it’s fab.
