A Couple New Items--Opinions, Please?

A couple of weeks ago, I ordered a trench coat form Bloomingdale's that was on killer sale. I posted it on another thread, but I can't find the link, and the item is now sold out, so I can't find a photo on the website either. Anyway, it was a coral colored trench by Theory.

I got it in the mail today (yay!) and when I dug it out, I was kind of shocked. The color isn't really at true coral, but a very bright, vibrant tomato-ish red, although not too orange. I can't even really describe the color accurately:

I mean, this is great because I've wanted a red trench but couldn't find one the right shade of red. I was just surprised is all. Do any of you remember looking at the trench when I posted it? Did it look lighter coral to you too? Anyway, I'm actually happy with the trench, and I'm excited because I don't have one and Austin is entering the "rainy season." The sleeves are slightly too long, but I wonder if I should bother getting them altered, since it might be nice to keep my hands dry. Does it look bad? Should I shorten them, or is that how trench jackets should fit?

Also, I ordered that Milly blouse that Tanya posted for me with the flutter sleeves.

It's a little bit too big around the waist, so I'm going to have it taken in on the sides. Also, I was wondering what you all though of the flutter sleeves? Do they make my shoulders look kind of large? I have strong shoulders anyway, which is why I usually avoid flutter sleeves. The blouse is such a beautiful color though, and I love the tie at the neck. One option is to have the sleeves removed, and just make it sleeveless. It would be very simple, since the "sleeves" are actually only attached at the top, and the armhole is already finished all the way around:

Anyway, any opinions would be appreciated! Also, please excuse the hair, it was raining today and I had to re-blowdry it. It never turns out right after that.

Ana, you look stunning in these colors!

The trench is gorgeous. It did look more coral on the Saks site, but I like this color a lot. The sleeves are slightly long, but if they don't bother you I'd leave them as is.

I knew you would look amazing in that blouse ! I agree with you that it should be taken in the waist ( I find I have to do the same with all the blouses these days). I actually like this particular flutter sleeves on you, but I like the sleeveless idea too.
How do you plan to wear it most often? If on it's own, I'd leave the sleeves; if under a cardi, the sleeves might be a pain for layering so I would remove them.

I like the color and the tie neck on the blouse but something about the sleeves looks off to me. Maybe they are too voluminous? Perhaps my eye is just not used to the look.

The trench actually looks coral on my monitor! It's looks great on you in terms of style and fit so I am glad that you love the real color. I'd leave the sleeves unless they bother you at that length.

The flutter sleeve top is darling. I like the sleeves -- they make the top unique -- so I think that you should keep them.

I love the trench! It is definitely coral to me, but a medium coral, not a light one. The fit is great and I bet you'll wear it for years.

The Milly blouse is only so-so to me. The flutter sleeves make it look a little prairie-ish to me, which I don't think of as an "Ana" look

Ana I think the trench looks great, although I do think the sleeves should be a little shorter. I love the milly blouse but agree that it should be taken in. I vote for removing the sleeves as I think it would look more 'you' that way!

I love the trench, I do remember it being more of a coral but this color works well on you.
I am sorry to say that I am not crazy about the top. I do not like the sleeves. Maybe if it were sleeveless but even then there is something about it that does not work for me. It could just be personal taste. You look gorgeous in the coat!!

Love the trench at any color!! Beautiful. The blouse is pretty too. Might be a great layering piece also as it looks to have some sort of tie or bow?....might look pretty under a jacket or a cardi as well as on it's own...Great buys!

The trench is beautiful! I'm on the fence with the sleeves of the blouse. I think I would prefer it sleeveless on you though.

I am afraid I am with GG on the blouse. I am not sure if it's the color or the style, but it doesn't have the same vibe as your other tops. Sorry! I don't think taking un is necessary though and also it looks better sleeveless.

The trench is absolutely great! I really like the style, the color, the length - and the sleeve length doesn't bother me. On my monitor it looks coral, maybe a little darker/brighter than the picture you posted before.

P.S. I just looked again and I am taking back my comment about sleeveless being better - the sleeves are an essential part of the whole style.

Beautiful trench, I am envious of it! It looks fab with your skin color.

I agree with other about the sleeves. I think it look slightly dowdy with the sleeves, but with them gone it has a modern with a touch of whimsy look to it.

The trench is great. I love the color and it would be nice to wear something colorful like that on a rainy day. I'm not sure about the sleeves. Do they get in the way being longer? If so that might be a reason to get them shortened.

I like the top and I think it will look even better with the waist taken in. I prefer it without the sleeves. I think it is a very pretty color!

Hi Ana, the trench is beautiful. I would hem the sleeves--It will make a big difference in polish.

I'm not sure how I feel about the blouse. I love the color and the fabric. I am conused by the sleeves--they seem overpowering to me. But it may just be that my eye is not used to it. However, if you remove the sleeves, the blouse takes on a whole new world of possibilities. I can picture you wearing it solo or as a layering piece. The sleeves would make layering it awkward. Since you would need to have it taken in at the waist anyway, I'd go ahead and have the sleeves removed too.

*chuckle* The trench I mailed you in the swap is in the same color family. Wait til you see it. A little more muted perhaps, and tending more toward red than orange. Well this week, you might have hit the jackpot in terms of red trenches!

I like the Milly blouse on you very much, with the sleeves better than sleeveless, in fact. Please post again once it's altered!

The trench is beautiful and still looks very coral on my screen.
The blouse is so feminine in color and style.
Nicole makes a good point about shortening the trench's sleeves and about the Milly blouse. I'm also unsure about the sleeves. Could they be altered into small cap sleeves, or is that not a good style for your shoulders? Looking at the photo, the blouse seems to be wearing you rather than you wearing the blouse, but maybe making it more fitted will be enough.

I'm on the fence about the blouse. I considered a very similar blouse (in cream, with short sleeves), but it sold out fast on sale. And maybe I don't have the neck for a tie-neck anyway. It sounds like you really like the color and the tie-neck, altering the sides and removing the sleeves sounds like a good plan. The color looks great with your hair color, too!

Is the blouse pretty sheer?

Okay, I think I will definitely get the trench sleeves shortened just a little bit. I looked and it probably wouldn't be a difficult alteration. Nicole's comment about polish makes sense.

I'm torn on the blouse now. I am going to keep it (I wore it layered under a black boyfriend cardigan yesterday), and I'm going to have it taken in on the sides. I'm not sure what to do about the sleeves. I'm leaning towards having them removed, just because it kind of feels like I'm wearing wings when I walk, lol. I might save the sleeves though, just in case I ever want to put them back on someday, or I end up not liking the blouse without them.

Lena, the blouse is sheer, but it comes with a little silk cami that I wear underneath it, so nothing shows.
