8-hour sandal suggestions

I know everyone is in love with the Brulees (they are pretty great on a lot of feet), but if you are looking for a different shape or color there are a couple of cheaper options at Famous Footwear right now.

The first are Clarks, and they're casual slip-ons. I had these last year, in ivory and in black, and I LOVED them. I could wear them 24 hours and they always felt great, and the sand-dollar and patent made them several steps above your average slide-in sandal.

The second are my new flat casual sandals for this summer, Riannes by BOC. OMG, so so comfortable, and finally the metallic I have been looking for! I've wanted something between a gold and a bronze, but most fall closer to one or the other. They've got a bit of gladiator to them too, with the elaborate straps and shape, but there are no buckles.

Kristen, thanks so much for posting about this- I fell in love with those sandals as soon as I saw them on your other post. Want them! They have the perfect mix of straps, heel height- while still looking sort of dainty on your feet.

I bought a fantastically comfortable pair from a brand called Andrew Geller a couple of years ago. I'm not 100% sure they're identical to the ones I own since I can't see the picture, but judging ffrom the description they're either the same or really close. I've been able to wear these sandals all day and I adore them. I own thehem in white:

Chewy, I love those flowered ones on you! I saw them but they didn't look right for me. Bummer -- I was hoping I could do a cute flower on my sandal!

San, those Danskos look great on you! Are they comfortable? One thing I'm finding is that those wooden platforms have less "give" than I like and end up being too uncomfortable. I've returned a couple of pairs for that reason already this spring. I do have a great woven espadrille platform with nude straps from Clarks from two seasons ago that are still in great shape; those will be my taller sandals this summer, methinks. (I also saw the same pair at the Clarks outlet last week. I am considering duplicating.)

The one thing I do caution about the Riannes is that they run a little big. They didn't have half-sizes so I am actually going to go back and try on the 8s tonight; I'm worried once the leather stretches the 9s will slide right off my feet!

I've come to learn in reading this forum this season that there are different sandal types for physical reasons, not just for aesthetic purposes. *g* The things you loved about the Brulees were actually the very things that made them not work on my feet, and the things I love about the Riannes are what crosses them off your list! It takes all kinds to appease us!

Lately, this forum is helping me to see how much I have tortured my feet, and that I need to be more diligent in my search for stylish, comfortable, affordable shoes. You all have also helped open my eyes to the fact that there are options out there.

LWC - I tried those on this weekend, and they just didn't fit right. I have high arches which are positioned unusually far forward on my foot, so I have lots of trouble finding shoes that fit well. I am so jealous that they were good for you because I think they are fabulous!

Kristen - After spending hours and hours and hours at every store in the mall, I didn't have the energy to go to Famous Footwear where I haven't been wowed by much in the past. If the shoes I ordered from Zappos today don't work, I'll make sure I stop by there next time in town. I like the look of both of yours a lot.

Kristen, the Danskos sole is not wood. It looks like wood but is a bouncy rubber. There is no way I could wear a wooden sole shoe. I tried that in the '70's with the old Dr Scholl's wooden sandal. No good.

Kristen, congrats on finding comfy stylish sandals. I tried the Borns as well and loved them, too! They were my runner-ups. In the end I decided on these Naturalizer Jangle ones, since I kinda had my heart set on the snake skin look (I got them in cream). The comfort level is super and they are very cute.

I tried on at least 20 pairs of sandals from varioius comfort brands, and in the end was encouraged that there were several pairs that had a decent comfort level (like the Borns, the Naturalizer and the Clark Brulees) and looked snazzy, too. It just takes time and commitment, but it (it = finding comfy and stylish sandals) can be done!

Feet are absolutely fussy in different ways, Kristen. Between my own foot challenges and the foot challenges of my clients I could write a book on the subject. I refuse to wear uncomfortable shoes for ANY length of time, but I also refuse to wear unattractive shoes. And so the saga continues…..

Ooooh, all the sandals linked are great, but my heart belongs to the Clarks Erdas. I love that light tan "peanut" shade; that's the one color I am missing in my shoe collection still. Of course, since my closet is still so black-centric I am holding off on buying that yet.
