70s maxi/formal: leave at ankle length or let out to floor length?

I discovered a new resale/vintage clothing store today and scored an AMAZING ca. 70s long gown that I plan to wear on "formal night" on my upcoming cruise. It hits me just about at the bottom of my ankle bone, which leaves all of my feet and shoes showing. It has a very deep hem so I could have it let down if I so desired.

I'm inclined to leave it as is, and Hubby agrees. What do you all think?

Yay = leave as is, with feet and sandals showing
Nay = let it out to floor length

Hmm, I don't see where to click yay or nay. I like it as is but also wonder about letting it out about halfway to full length. I really don't know what is the correct length for long gowns but tried on several today and they all seemed to fall between the length of yours and full length. I'll be watching this thread for answers.
It's a gorgoeus gown and soooo MaryK with all the beautiful colors. Fab find!

You could certainly leave as is, but if you are going for an ultra elegant look you could let this beauty out to the floor!!

I am leaving next week on a cruise...what are the odds we are on the same ship?:)

Perfect dress for you and you look gorgeous in it! Is it sparkly???? I think I would lengthen it a bit to make it look more like formal wear, rather than a sun-dress!

I also think that hem could go down a bit. But either way, it's yet ANOTHER fantastic find and looks super on you!

I do understand about wanting those shoes to show. They are lovely, too! And also, if it would make it easier to walk, just leave it be. I think if I were letting it down, I agree with others - I wouldn't put it quite to the floor, but just an inch or two down, letting some shoe/foot peek through. It might not be worth the bother for that, though.

I left my own formal bottom-of-ankle length instead of hemming UP as Angie had suggested. I loved it that way.
