$20 challenge and rediscovered top

I thought I would never be able to do the $20 challenge, but the other day I tried to put something together with swapped items. I discovered this top I used to wear it years ago and then held onto it for sentimental reasons. It's real 60s vintage and I got it from my grandmother brand new. Do you think I could still use it? Any ideas how?
Here is my outfit version - cami, shoes from swap, Maya clams (full price cami + postal fee for the jeans). I wouldn't actually wear this combo, but I'd appreciate any input on the top. Thanks!

Works nicely! I love the top from your grandmother and the clams look great on you.

I think it's cute also! Could you wear it open like a cropped jacket as well maybe?

Pairing it with a cami makes it work for you!! A pencil skirt would look good too. Those clams are just AMAZING on you though!!!

Totally retro and fab! How does it look unbuttoned?

Thank you ladies! JG, I thought that wearing it like a jacket could be an option. Angie, when it's unbuttoned, it stays open and I don't think I like exposing that much cami surface, so I decided to try it over a dress. It would probably be better with a sheath (or pencil skirt, per Tam's suggestion), but I don't have anything suitable at the moment. Here it is:

Perfect Marianne! It looks gorgeous with that dress. You look so elegant!
(I love the green flats in outfit 1 too;-)

Marianne, looks great! I like the top with the dress. I also like it with the clams. Could you wear a tank instead of a cami for more coverage and open the top with that outfit? I think it could be fun to add a cami of a different color as well.

I agree with Inge...love the green flats!

Well done with the challenge Marianne. Why do you say you wouldn't wear this outfit normally?
Also, like the blouse with the dress!

Thanks everyone! Bella, somehow I don't feel fab in that combo - maybe it's the length of the top and cami, or maybe it needs dressier bottoms... don't know. I'll try experiment more with the top.

I see a sheath dress in your future my dear, Marianne. It's on your shopping list! This little vintage piece has great potential :-)

Hmmm. Do you have a straight-ish tunic in your closet?

Thanks Angie, I am glad you think I can put it to use. I don't have a tunic like that, but it's something I would consider getting. I'll keep an eye out for those on my next shopping outing.
I would be interested in a sheath, and I'll try to get one when/if I go back to work. Right now I don't have any occasions to wear one and I can't justify it unless it can be really dressed down. I am also never sure about the length and how it's supposed to fit in the bottom part. I tried a black dress at CM a couple of weeks ago, and it was kind of confusing. Hmm maybe I should take pictures of my next attempt.
