2 Reunion Outfits...Accessorize Me!

Okay...I put together outfits for the 2 evening activities for my HS reunion that's coming up - soon! I need help finishing them off with accessories (my weak area). Also, I am prepared to splurge on 1 fabulous bag that I can carry with both outfits, and use for years to come. Let me know what you think. Here are the outfits:

1. Happy hour dress.

BTW, the cheap tights that I'm wearing for visual purposes are clinging to the knit jersey dress a bit. Please advise on how to remedy this.

2. Dinner party skirt and top.

Sorry for the crappy lighting... I tried my best. The YSL top actually has a really cool cascading ruffle detail at the bottom that really stands out against the green gold color of the skirt IRL.

Leslie, how fun to see your outfits ! The happy hour dress is lovely, but I am absolutely bowled over by the YSL top. That second outfit is just super fantastic!

I remember having read somewhere that rubbing dryer sheets against fabric will prevent static cling.

Hi Leslie. I don't think you need to do much accessorizing for the second outfit. The new bag will do enough, I think. With the first outfit I thought of a scarf around your neck, or one of those new funky but retro bib necklaces, or some knee high boots, or some booties with some serious sass. I particularly like the last option because I think my strong calves preclude the bootie with dress look for me but I so like it on others. You would be a great candidate.

With such a simple dress, I would go for a statement necklace.

I just got one of those email forwards telling how to take care of househole problems A-Z. One tip was to safety pin a dryer sheet to the inside seam of your dress, or the lining, to keep static cling away all day! Yay, I got to use one!

Both looks are fantastic, Do you have your ears pierced? I think you only need earrings and a clutch (metallic or black mock croc) to complete the first outfit. The second outfit has so much texture and interest I would just add a clutch.

What great outfits! You are beautiful. I like R&J's idea of statement earrings for the second outfit especially and skip the necklace. Cuff or a bunch of bangle bracelets are another idea.
If you do a necklace with the happy hour dress, you might consider a longer length like a pendant or long chain with those big links like Phoebe had on in Angie's Talbots blog post yesterday.

Yeah...I'm thinking earrings and a cuff/bracelets with the happy hour dress, and a clutch or handbag.

For the second outfit, I'm thinking earrings, a bag (same as above), and *possibly* a cocktail ring.

I'm really an earring person, since I'm practically bald. I'd like to put more dollars into a fab bag than costume jewelry.

Also, what do you all think of textured/patterned tights with the dress? Yay or nay? If yay, then what pattern?

This is really a weak area for me, so I appreciate the input. Thanks!

Both outfits are stunning! Your skylong legs are your best accesories!!! You, lucky one!
May I suggest you, for both your outfits(but especially for the dress) a long Y necklace (long and dark-or same colour- cord/chain as dres/top wth an elongated pendant -(these are my favourites, LOL). But second will do with a single clutch, too.

Leslie, I could see textured black tights with either dress, but for a reunion I'd keep it something simple like the micro fishnets or other small geometric rather than a lace or colorblock pattern. You'll have to experiment to get it right with the black suede platform ankle booties. You have gorgeous legs and will want to show them off.
Do women wear sheer black stockings any more? If so, they might be a good choice with the dinner outfit, but maybe that's too conservative.

For the static cling, I just wear a silk negligee underneath. I have one from Victoria's Secret (yes, the kind you sleep in) that is the perfect length. Keeps static cling completely at bay all day long.

I think the stockings and shoes you are wearing look great - actually the first thing I notice was how nice your legs look!

Did you say you're NOT an earring person? I'm thinking cuff bracelets. Love the statement ring idea. I don't know if you really even need a necklace with either.

For clutch, how much do you want to spend?

Basically my thought was something in a print, like a snake print, or something with studs to give it edge, or with ruffles.... do any of these appeal?

Oh... forgot to add one more! But I don't have a link. I did just score an adorable clutch at Club Monaco a few weeks ago. It comes in either charcoal gray or black, and it has little round metal circles sewn all over it... hard to explain... won't give you a pop of color but it has wonderful, interesting texture. Very different looking.

My thought was that a pop of color, which can be worn with either outfit, might be difficult to achieve... but maybe the other ladies have better ideas there. So I was thinking something more neutral but with a print or interesting details or studs to jazz it up. I do think you can even go with a black clutch - but I'd look for one with lots of details, like gold zippers or gold studs.

I *am* an earring person...I feel naked without them. LOL.

No need to apologize for having expensive taste. I do too. I was looking in NM (exotic clutches, Prada handbags, and Chanel (timeless clutch in black caviar), Gucci (snakeskin clutches), and LV (black epi leather handbags) yesterday and snapping pics of different clutches and handbags with my outfits. I am only getting one bag for both ensembles, and I want something that I will use for years to come. So it has to function for my life after the festivities and not be super trendy. Also, I need something that will hold the essentials plus a compact digital camera.

What is the colour of the happy hour dress? I see that with HUGE gold earrings and a cuff. As soon as I know the colour, I’ll offer my two cents on the clutch.

I LOVE the dinner party outfit! It’s KILLER. It also needs huge gold earrings and a cuff to soften the black against your skin tone.

Are you stuck on using one bag for each outfit? I’d encourage a different handbag. But then, I am a bag lady :0)

Hmmm... I'm thinking the Marc Jacobs is pretty classic, with the quilting.... and a snake print in a natural color like the one on Endless is never going to go out of style. I am all over snake print lately. There's a lot out there that is in unnatural colors, and I like that too, but I am thinking that's more trendy?

I would just be careful not to trade "timeless" for boring. I would not be afraid of bold details like studs, zippers, ruffles.

This is like a pep talk to my own self too... because when I think of dropping a few hundred dollars on a clutch, I am apt to bulk, because I don't use clutches as often.... and yet, if I go for something "timeless" then I fear it can end up being a snore... it's tough!

Oh darling, we don’t settle for less than fabulous :0). But I don’t think it adds extra value to the outfits to spend more than $100 or so on a clutch at this point, especially with your lifestyle. But a handbag that you use all the time is a different story. Please don’t think I’m trying to tell you how to budget because I do respect how you’d prefer to spend your pennies 100%!

If you were my client, this is what I would encourage, and remember it’s just my 2 cents:

o Add a vibrant scarf to the maroon dress outfit to make it pop. Change out the hose to something black with texture and add a fun clutch. It’s happy hour!

o This is where we want to add even more drama to this dramatic outfit! Very yummy. HUGE gold earrings and wrist cuff. Add a black textured clutch, OR keep it in the gold family. Let’s go tonal on this outfit. Keep it very modern, sophisticated and classy.

My first thoughts were this:
With the dress, add a scarf. It will accent your long neck, which is a good thing.
I have a personal love of oversize hoop earrings, and I think they look fab on gals with short crops and long necks.
Booties rock. It adds just the right edge to these outfits and you can pull them off.
I'm drawn to the snakeskin clutch. The pattern won't compete with the outfits you have assembled, and I know you are not a fan of ruffly anything. It will add visual interest.
I have NEVER been able to remedy the clingy tights thing. I hope the silky underthings trick works.
My goodness, you are going to look fantastic. Just like the model you are!!!

Can you give me some examples of/links to a scarf (brand, color, size, and how to tie it?), a clutch, textured black hose/tights (what brand and pattern would be best?), gold earrings, and gold cuff? That would help me a ton.

2. Skirt outfit:

Again, can you show me examples of/links to earrings and a cuff. Do you think that maybe a cocktail ring would be better, considering the long sleeves of the top? Lemme know.

Are they too "casual" for cocktail? I would wear them, because to me, it's a timeless look, and I don't personally feel cocktail requires sparkly glitz. You are oozing class and timeless elegance in that look.
