I think the length works with the dark tights . Your red orange jacket sounds like it would be fun to try. Love the zipper, love the tweed, love the top, love the juxtapositions. I think with tights the skirt is not too short. The effect is so different when you are not wearing tights. I always feel I can get away with shorter as long as the tights are on. I don't have a lace top, and I find lace very hard because I never feel comfortable in it. It might be too feminine and not RATE enough. Ans I get the bad 80's vibe Pencil + chunky sweater looks so great on others (especially those with a strong shoulder line), but I feel more like a lump and not sharp enough. I think you did great pairing it with a completely different fabric. Maybe you could try a lace top? Or maybe, you could keep the outfit in neutral tones (black, white, grey) and add a pop of colour with tights? I was thinking mustard, brick red, teal... I also like the idea of pairing a pencil skirt with a chunky sweater, but that is probably not allowed, considering the dress code you gave. I also think this type of skirt would look fabulous if combined with a cardigan/shorter coat and a faux fur collar. They were well worn, but still in good shape - though too tight around the tummy area. I loved them both, so it took some time to part. But I know it is liberating in the end. This is my new tweed skirt and I really love the zipper I've been wearing this quite a lot, and like to wear it with this Theory silk top because of the juxtaposition between the fabrics. Then I add a wool cardi, short or long. If I were having lectures, I'd add a blazer on top. Any suggestions for other top? Is the skirt a bit short for lectures? (I think the work wear code is business casual or smart casual) Thanks for looking. Comments and suggestions are welcome as always - Theory silk top - tweed skirt - short black cardi / long mole cardi - zipper in back (can be adjusted as I like)
