It's been all cooler on the Western front! I'm happy to take a little snow in CA if it means normal temperatures in the desert parts of the West.

I love your supermarket outfit. And I understand the urge to look good near frozen foods or 60 lb. bags of Costco dog food.

Your plaid blouse is the most flattering top on you! The colors and busy nature of plaid are perfect for your coloring and proportions. I foresee many happy combinations in the future. Perhaps your white skinnies... ?

Those poor little doggies! Good thing you had a back-up package! (Did the family find out?)

I can't believe that it's cool enough for you to layer! Lucky duck! Both outfits are FAB. It shows in your smile that you are having fun with fashion lately!

Have you tried tying the scarf ends so that it is one big loop, then double wrapping loosely around the neck, infinity style? It might look less wintery, but I'm not sure.

That plaid blouse is so lovely on you! I agree that your DIY makes it look easier to do the half tuck. Nicely styled!

Oh Claire, I luv luv luv these bright and fun outfits (yeah for happiness factor!)

I agree with Sveta, you are making me tempted to get a flowered piece, you rock it so well.

Love Monty by the way

Hmm, burned food hasn't happened, but not making dinner until serious whining occurs does happen! YLF is sooooo addicting.

Claire, you look fabulous in both outfits. You are such an expert at pattern mixing!
I've let the tea kettle biol dry more than once while on YLF. There was some nasty melted black stuff around the spout but it still works. I need one that whistles!

Moni, it looks like you had a Teflon pot at least? Although I think a little crust on the rice can be quite nice, perhaps not that much, lol! I'll give you three guesses as to where my plaid shirt was made and first two don't count. We need to bring them back into style, don't you think? Don't forget your baking soda, we can't have your tresses getting upset in the move!

Sveta, pea soup sounds lovely. It's going to be cold tomorrow and now I want to cook up a pot, thanks for the idea! If you seriously ruined your pot (and it's not Teflon) try soaking over night in a small amount of water and a paste of scouring powder like Ajax or Comet. Works for me every time!

Your outfits are outstanding lately, Claire. The pattern mix in 1-2 is superb (you made me want to get something floral!) Plaid shirt outfit is very good too - getting into your style groove for sure, girl!

Claire, I'll admit you had me a trifle nervous when you mentioned floral cardi and leopard scarf with snakeskin, especially as I imagined myself in the checkout clerk's shoes! This is to remind me that I should ALWAYS look at your photos before I get caught up in reading your delightful post! THAT looks FABULOUS alright.

As does the plaid and skinnies outfit, which I have a soft spot for. That DIY was some kind of genius --- it even lets you half-tuck and trail with *neat* aplomb!

Er, about the cooking thing, there was the time I made a rice bowl. Can't even blame YLF actually... I was browsing upstairs and forgot I was cooking lunch downstairs. Ahem.

OT: We suddenly have spring weather too, complete with April showers! It's down to nearly 80 degrees at times, with vigorous thunderstorms and hail in the evenings! I actually wore *layers* yesterday and got my monsoon shoes out. .

(And oh, you reminded me to put baking soda on my packing/moving list! How did I manage to forget that?!)

Sarah, as for my hair, it must be the old "no-shampoo" thing working out. I've stretched shampoos to once a week. All other days I scrub my scalp with baking soda and rinse through my hair in the shower. Again, this idea was inspired by Queen Mum.

Deborah, lol about the plaid. And you turned me on to the gingham. I just haven't found the right one yet.

Una, you set his toast on fire? ROTFL! Poor kid. Had to scavenge for cold cereal. :/

Just yesterday i put some toast in the toaster oven for my son. Got on YLF because the toaster is really slow. Next time I check, smoke is pouring out and the edge of one piece of toast is AFLAME. My son was all "Mom, please never make me toast again."

However, you look marvelous and that excuses everything!

Both are lovely outfits and very you. I am enjoying seeing you wear the plaid shirt. I generally do t like plaid in a blouse but the colors of this and the way you are styling it has definitely opened my mind to the idea.

And yay for the pattern mixing and colour. These are two of my favourite combos on you yet!

A cold front has moved in, which means we have some real spring weather (as opposed to just summer). Checking the weather and getting dressed lately has been fun, as I found some new ways to wear my spring-y new items.

Outfit #1 is what I wore to the grocery store today. Queen Mum has inspired me to dress better when grocery shopping. *waving to Kim* I wonder what the checkers think now when they see me showing up in a full 3-piece pattern mix, lol! I'm wearing my new Wamart floral cardi done up as a top with my leopard ON scarf *waving to Suz, my scarf twin* to give me a collar. It also hides the fact that the floral doesn't match up on the closure of the sweater. On the bottom are my old faithful Gap Outlet skinnies and Jessica Simpson nude gladiator sandals. Monty make three prints going on at once. I've been wearing my pearl stud earrings more than ever, perhaps because with ALGO, that's all I need.

Outfit #2 I wore yesterday (also chilly). This is the first time I've worn this thrifted plaid shirt with my blue jeans and the first time I tucked it in (semi-tuck, back is out). I liked it a lot. I wore my leopard flats and carried Monty yesterday too.

Both of these outfits score a 9 or 10 on the Happiness Scale *waving at Jayne*. This may be in part because I'm wearing "new" items (cardi and plaid shirt) in a first time combination. When I get something new that I really love, I tend to wear it a LOT (like you guys hadn't noticed that, lol!) and stay awake nights trying to figure out different pairings for it. The bright colors and pattern mixing make me really happy too. And the weather. This is really too good to be true. Usually it's over 100F by now!

The last picture is what happens when you put a package of hot dogs on the grill and then get on YLF *just for a second*. Don't let this be you! If you've already burned food for the cause of fashion, share with us; I'm sure we could all use a laugh today!
