Ooh I like the yellow dress too. Personally I wouldn't worry about it being too short; it'll be under a gown for the most part. I wore a dress that I consider a little too far on the short side to my graduation recently. Under the robe and with funky hose I didn't feel self-conscious at all. Will it be too warm for stockings on your grad day?

Love, love, love the first yellow floral dress. Dress it up with pearls, heels, a clutch and you'd be golden, in my opinion. Would it be too short, though?

The sky blue dress is good too but not as interesting or versatile as the yellow one to me.

Thanks for your responses so far! Yep, we'll be wearing academic robes but there also is dinner with the parents and then a course party after that.

Of course, I would need to get it shortened and I don't know how difficult of a job that would be. I tried on a number of dresses like this today and my main problem with that neckline is that it is accompanied with deep v at the back which causes the shoulders to sit oddly on me. The only dress that I tried on with a high back sat perfectly on my shoulders but was a very unattractive colour on me.

First of all: congratulations Dawn!! You worked really hard for this!

I quite like the yellow dress, but I'm not sure how formal a graduation ceremony is, and I'm wondering if it's a tad on the casual side?

I very much like the sound of pairing a pencil skirt with a gorgeous top. You look marvelous in skirts!

Love, Love, Love the second dress, I'm not very found of the first one, it seems too casual, the second is young and lovely.

The pencil skirt is breath taking and very sexy, so I vote for the second dress for the occasion!

For graduation, especially in summer, cool and breathable is key! Will you be wearing a robe for the ceremony?

Looking at your choices, the one that pops out is the first dress--the yellow print--very summery, chic and casual at the same time.

I understand that you want to reuse pieces in your wardrobe, but graduation is a special occasion, and you want to feel special. There will be other moments to build a wardrobe--your first interview!--but this may be a moment for something both memorable and fun.

Okay, my graduation date has been set for the end on August but as I'm an excitable little puppy, I really want to start planning what I'm going to wear... Sale season is starting in the next couple of weeks so I would like to have a couple of ideas in my head about what I want to buy. The official dress code is formal- so suits and ties are mandatory for guys and the dress code is very vague for the female students. From what I have seen around campus on graduations days is that the female graduates tend to wear dresses, similar to what they would wear at a day wedding. A couple of women will wear a nice top and trousers or a skirt.

So I have a couple of ideas for my outfit-

1) Get a nice dress as an investment piece that can be reused for weddings, cocktail parties, etc

Any thoughts on what is appropriate for a university graduation outfit?
