I only wear white socks to the gym.

If I'm wearing fashion sneakers, I try to match the sock to the shoe. But I usually only wear fashion sneakers with jeans, so matching them to the pants isn't really an issue.

What are the "rules" for socks with fashion sneakers? Are they suppose to match the shoe color, the pants (jeans) or the top? I have a pair of black/charcoal Skeechers and a brown/bronze Steve Madden. Both have more of an athletic look to them (which I like). If I am wearing something with black I use the black sneakers, if there is no black in my outfit, I wear the brown. I try to match something in my top if I have socks that color. If I don’t, then I revert to white or black. What are the general rules you can apply depending on they shoe color (not just my black and brown)?

Oh, and can you comment on prefered "weight" of material and thoughts on patterns versus solids. You will probably cringe when I say I have several paris of socks with dogs on them. What can I say...I love dogs.

Lovely! Stick to a black cotton sock if you wear a black top with this look. Don’t wear white. And once again, your socks should not show when you wear Converse.

I've got some blue and green (with a back stripe of orange) converse-- they're bright.

Your socks should not show if your pants are the right length. Skinnies will reveal a sock if you sit down and cross your legs. I like Gap socks. What colour are your fashion sneakers?

I would definitely prefer a sock that doesn't show. But I thought with jeans there might be something out there that works even if it shows out of the shoe. I definitely don't want to wear my thin black trouser socks with colorful fashion sneakers.

What kind of socks to do you like to wear with your fashion sneakers? I'm looking for a sock that either shows and looks good or doesn't show and stays on my foot. I also prefer cotton.
