Thanks San. I’m back, albeit jetlagged, and happy to be chiming in again. I have already worked with a client this morning. No rest for the wicked!

Aw San, if my grandma wore skinnies I would think she's the coolest granny on the block (well maybe not, since she is in her 90's, but you get my point). I didn't think of the Matchsticks as being particularly skinny, but if you're not totally comfortable in them there are still straighter styles that might work. Angie's suggestion of the Soho is great. The rise is higher as well, but do size down because they will stretch and grow like you wouldn't believe.

Keep us updated on what you get from Nordies.

Plenty of grandmas in skinnies in Paris, San. You’ll look great in the RIGHT pair. I know you’ll look good in DK’s, they are truly a fantastic cut. Have fun at Nordies!

Thanks you're very sweet. I have an appt with a personal shopper at Nordstrom's for next week to try on some dresses and I can check out the jeans there also. You're right in saying that maybe J Crew style is not for me. I've had good luck with the David Khann brand so maybe there is something there that suits me better.
I must say I like the fit of the J Crew trouser jeans but they do run big. I thought the style, and the pocket size and placement were very good. These are not the high waisted. They are called the 5 pocket, in case anyone is interested.

Sorry to hear that San. I love my clamdiggers but you have to find what works for you. I tried on the matchstick jeans and could not get them over my calves so I think they run super skinny. I would keep looking for a straight leg narrow opening jean (I think someone mentioned J Brand on another thread?). I don't think being a grandma should have anything to do with it, the J Crew style may just not work for you. Keep hunting, something out there may appeal to you later!

San, I'm sorry things didn't turn out to be great. Are any of them keepers? I would worry about 'a grandma in skinny jeans, I think it's all in how you wear something and you can certainly pull them of with your figure!

Hmm. I ordered the clamdiggers, matchstick jeans, and some wide leg trouser jeans all in 2 sizes from J Crew.
I was disappointed that the clamdiggers have little back pockets in a different color stitching, and they are set too close together fo me. I'd have to always make sure my butt was covered. Otherwise very comfy and look good from the front.
Matchstick pants, Hmm. I'm not sure about a grandma in skinny jeans.
The trouser jeans I like, maybe because they are nostalgic for me since I wore them in the '70's and I think they are flattering. However these seem to run rather large.
One pair of the matchstick jeans also had a flaw in it and looked as if someone had worn them for a day. That creeped me out. I'm not sure I'm going to be much of an internet shopper for clothing. I think I'd rather just go to the store and try things on since I live in an easy access area. Also my experience with the NAU Co. going bankrupt makes it all seem even less pleasant.
