Thanks Angie...I guess I should have been more clear in my original post...maybe using the word"classic" look instead of "preppy". I just always think of prep school whenever I go into the Brooks Bros. store.(LOL)
I'll definitely look into updating some classics. I work @ Neiman Marcus and am sorted of expected to "look the part", but as almost 50 y/o I balk at spending the money on something that really doesn't look good on me, will be "out" in a season but is "fashion forward". Thanks for helping me adapt my style that meets both needs..

Remaining modernly-classic is a great style, with an emphasis on the word "modern". There is much that one can do to keep a classic look current. A lot of it has to do with the correct accessories choice (shoes, handbag, specs) and your hairstyle. A button down shirt is a severe looking garment and by layering it with fun knitwear or a funky jacket, you’ll have softened the look. Classic Coach handbags are classic full stop. This is a choice that you have made about the type of handbag that you want to carry, but it’s certainly not unstylish to be drawn to be drawn to this look.

Time and time again I find that I'm drawn to a very classic look. Think Brooks Brothers, Coach...but I always stop short because I feel the style looks kind of masculine and dowdy. Are there key things to keep the look feminine yet not look like I'm a librarian? Ideas please.
