Chrizzle I so know what you mean with the weight thing. I'm a pear so my waist is reasonablly small (at least compared to the rest of me). I'm tall with average length legs but my weight resides in my butt and thighs so when I put on weight the extra backside real estate means the hem lengths of my pants fail to achieve PPL.
What's a girl to do .......
dramatic sigh.....

Oh well Jayne we'll just have to live vicariously through you.

I seriously doubt I'll ever achieve consistent PPL. Skinnies and straight-legged styles are more forgiving in terms of length, but they don't flatter my body as much as pants with fuller legs do. I cannot wear heels higher than 2 inches unless it's a purely sit-down occasion, and according to the PPL articles, that's not high enough for wider-legged pants to "break" right. So do my shoe restrictions mean I should not bother wearing the kinds of pants that otherwise look good on me? (I've been experimenting with higher heels in expensive brands that engineer them for better comfort, but I've returned most of them because they all hurt after about an hour or so. I'm too much of a feminist and a pragmatist to suffer that much pain and limited mobility just to look good!)

Then there's the issue of the frequent fluctuations in my weight. Weight gain concentrates on my thighs and waistline, and when I'm up a few pounds, my pants may or may not feel tight, but they always become too short. When I'm down a few pounds, the same pants that were too short a few months ago become too long, while looking good everywhere else.

Between working full time, being a mother and wife, and being involved in my community, I do not see where I would find the time and energy to shop for, have hemmed, and then keep track of 3 or 4 variations on each pair of pants, in order to have something in the right color, fit, and length whether my weight is up or down, and whether I'm wearing low or (relatively) high heels.

Finding the time to shop for clothes that fit me is hard enough, and adding this PPL business to the list of fashion rules to consider makes me want to give up altogether. Feeling very discouraged and wondering if this is the right time in my life to be trying to improve my style. I finally have more money to spend on clothes, but I'm beginning to think I just don't have the time and energy to devote to style right now. I now understand why some people just give up and focus exclusively on comfort!

PPL is my personal nightmare I always have problems but my goal is to start correcting this by replacing the culprits. Only problem is I find it really hard to find pants long enough so I will watch with admiration as you get it right.

not sure on skinny's, for wideleg's i believe it is 1/4" about the ground.

skinnys... i guess so there is some scrunch, i find i have some that i can wear with flats but if i try to go barefoot i walk on about 1 inch of jean. How the nothing to it ballet flat prevents me walking on the pants is a bit of a mystery to me.

I think she said that you can leave them long and scrunched up at the ankles so that (provided the leg opening is small enough to not slip under your heel) you can wear them with flats, and also with heels, where she said (if memory serves) she quite likes the back of the jeans to slide partly down along the heel... At least, this is what I remember, though I'm sure it's not all of it.

Hi gals, I finally have started trying to figure out PPL. With so much else to figure out it was not my first priority. But today I saw that the jeans I am wearing did not look good if I tried on pumps so I need to be pointed in the right direction. I went back to the PPL archive and this is written for boot cut jeans, dress slacks, and cuffed jeans but I didn't find anything for skinnies/straight legs. SO anyone who knows where I find Angie's recommendations on skinnies, please point the way.

thanks!
