Shopping in the juniors' dept is better than having to shop in the kids' department.... GRRR.

I have found that junior sized clothes often are quite small (and quite low cut) in the bust. Makes sense since most teenagers don't have a woman's body yet. So, you do have to be careful when shopping in the juniors dept to buy large enough for yourself (a medium sized junior is quite a bit smaller than a medium sized adult woman). I know that often the juniors clothes seem much for cute and trendy, and I'm often drawn to them in the stores myself, but they are just not made for our bodies. Also, you commented that the dress is too tight and too thin to put a blouse underneath-- that's another thing I've noticed with juniors clothing-- they are often made with less quality fabric- thus the thinness you're talking about.
I'm not knocking buying stuff in that dept-- I have atleast 5 items in my closet that I found in the juniors dept, but we do have to be careful.

I think you actually already knew the answer, if you felt like a tart wearing it, then you should definitely change it up next time so that you are more comfortable wearing it. It's a great dress, and looks good on you, just make it your own next time you wear it.

I'm going to be the odd person out and say that I think it is fine for you to wear the dress as you did in the photo. You have great legs, so the length seems to work (although you do seem to have one leg at an angle, so I'm not sure if that makes the dress look longer than it really is). I know you said that it shows a lot of cleavage, but from the photo, it looks fine to me. I wouldn't see you in that dress and think "wow, that woman certainly is showing a lot of skin!" If you were wearing it to work, maybe. But wearing it out to dinner, I don't see an issue.

Of course, as the weather gets cooler, it would definitely look cute with tights, hose, boots and/or something on top. But I just wanted to chime in to say I don't think you *need* any of those things to make the dress acceptable. :)

Angie - you stole my recommendation! I have a very similar dress that is sleeveless. I wear it with a cropped denim jacket, tights & flat boots.

The dress is too tight (and thin) on top for me to wear anything under it, but I may try it with tights and a cardi next time...

I agree with the other ladies. Overall it seems to be revealing too much skin and thus lacking balance. I think Kristen is a great example of how to use layering to make such a dress more "age-appropriate". I also love Shiny's idea.

I wear this style all the time with tights. I also often add a tee or a turtleneck underneath to cover the cleavage. Oh, and I am 41. :)

I agree with the girls, it's not the cleavage, it's too much.. the legs, the cleavage and the boots, you can wear it with leggins and flats! or without leggins with flats and a cardigan. Just balance the look.

I would cover one part.(cleavage,arms)or (legs)Both exposed its a bit much for me.

You can use a cardi or even a jacket,scarfs to cover you up a bit,tights.

Sky is the limit here,I like this dress on you!

I'm 35 and this is a juniors dress. It shows a lot of cleavage, too. I felt like a tart while wearing it (Hubby LOVED it, though). What do you think? Does it need tights/leggings, or should I scrap it altogether? Thanks!!
