Grace, I actually really like camel, but it has to be the right shade of camel. I think camel sometimes gets mixed up with khaki or tan, and to me, camel has almost a reddish tint to it. I think it can be very pretty, but if you end up with just a tan cardigan, it could easily wash you out (it sounds like you and I have the same coloring, and I have this problem with lots of tan/khaki shades). If you aren't too keen on bright colors, what about a darker jewel tone color, like burgundy or dark purple? Something like this in mulberry or the navy color:

http://www.eddiebauer.com/cata....._ite=Tier3

Those colors would look nice with black and white and other neutrals also, but also add some interest to an all neutral outfit.

Oh goodness, I hope not - all I have are hip length cardigans!!! I agree with the others - I think hip length is classic and BF is trendy.

Like Marianne, I plan on getting one BF one to carry me through this trend. I have been on the lookout but lately all I see are grandma cardigans which are much less attractive. I am kicking myself for not buying one of the BR merino BF cardigans from winter '08. They were a perfect fit (in petite sizing) - longer but nicely fitted in the shoulders and arms so not sloppy looking at all. At the time, I didn't know how I would wear it and now that I have finally acquired skinnies and boots, I feel like I desperately need the BF cardi to complete the look!

Angie, Welllllll.....I am thinking camel will go great over everything - I love camel over black, white and some colors. Also, I have dark blond/ brownish hair and tend to wear mostly neutrals and this is a 'softer' neutral to me than, say, black or grey. (which I have cardigans in those colors)

Is camel giving me a false sense of color security? It does indeed seem like a 'safe' color to me and I feel like I would wear it with everything but perhaps I am wrong. Please make a suggestion if you have one I am definitely open to new ideas. Most of my wardrobe is neutral, I shy away from lots of color...

Why do you want a camel boyfriend cardi in particular, agrace?

Cropped or hip length cardigans are still 100% stylish to wear. For sure. I just bought another one!

Kari, I bet it’s a question of not being used to the look yet. That’s all. I would put my head on a block that you've already tried countless new look tunic cardigans that work :0)

Oh.. no, hip-length cardigans are a classic, they are not dated, is just that longer cardis are more trendy right now (like they were in the 80's).

Yeah, I agree with the others. Hip length cardigans have been around for so long, I imagine it would take more than just one or two seasons to knock them off. Longer cardis just seem to be having a bit of a moment right now.

I think the hip length cardigan is classic rather than dated, if the rest of your outfit is modern it would not date your look. Good luck finding your boyfriend cardigan.

I don't think that the classic cardigan is ever going to go out of style. I favour the longer styles because I am tall, but still have several hip-length options and they work ell with many of my outfits. It's nice to have a variety of proportions with which to build outfits. And that shape has been around far too long to suddenly become outdated... you just need to make sure that your outfits in general are sharp, smart, and current.

I suppose they can look dated if they don't fit well but I don't think there is anything wrong with them. I am looking to buy another one this season. I decided I'll stick with just one bf cardigan.

I haven't found a boyfriend cardigan or cascading cardigan that worked on my body, so I'm still wearing classic hip-length cardigans too. If that makes me dated... *shrug* oh well.

What do you guys think? I absolutely love the boyfriend cardigan and am having a hard time finding the color I want (camel, thinner material not chunky at all) so I'm wearing and buying hip length cardigans right now.

How do you all feel about hip length cardis right now?
