Uniqlo is reviving more items from its Jil Sander collaboration, Yahoo Style launches a new podcast, and other news from the fashion trenches this week.

Uniqlo is reviving more items from its design collaboration with Jil Sander for Spring/Summer 2015.
These 27 US cities are getting a Nordstrom Rack store this year.
The pearl-embellished Calvin Klein gown that Lupita Nyong’o wore to the Academy Awards on Sunday was stolen from her hotel room this week.
Swedish brand Filippa K has launched three sustainability initiatives: garments made from 100% sustainable materials, customers donating old clothes that will then be reused, and a lease concept that allows customers to rent items for special occasions.
Yahoo Style brings out a new podcast today, Unbuttoned: “Strong opinions and ideas, irreverence and fun, and style through a pop culture lens.”

Fun Fashion Fact

Did you know that the Gary Harvey “eco-couture” gown Livia Firth wore to the 2011 Academy Awards was upcycled from eleven vintage dresses. Each dress hailed from the 1930s, the era in which her husband’s Oscar-winning film, The King’s Speech, was based.

YES. I saw in my twitter feed that they found Lupita’s gown. Wow. Not an easy item to steal.

Fun fact, Inge. A truly unique dress. And doesn’t Colin Firth look handsome in that photo.

So glad that more and more retailers are directly addressing sustainability in fashion. And that they’re are experimenting in how to take advantage of the sharing economy. Thanks for keeping these types of updates in the posts.

Very interesting about Nordstrom Rack expansion. I looked and at the end of 2013 there were 117 full line stores. By the end of 2015 there will be 196 Rack stores; they want that quantity to go to 300 by 2020. My takeaway is that the stores will have very little merchandise from the full line stores. Most of the merchandise will be made for the Rack stores. It stands to reason based on the store counts. How will the Rack be different from TJ Maxx or Ross then? Shopping at the Rack will become more challenging. Already I have to hunt hard to find the higher quality things. I practically have to know previous season’s designs to do this. I feel let down by the quality of of some of the Rack merchandise. For example, I got a 3 pack of Zella socks at the Rack which are poor quality (thinner, have faded quickly, look old after a few washes). Maybe this is all going to send me back to the full line stores.
