Yes, Karie, true Washingtonitites (whatever you want to call us) don’t usually use umbrellas. We are good dodgers!!! We all have them though; hiding away somewhere, ready when we really truly them.

Also, Angie and Aida, I had to smile when reading over your last posts about umbrellas & rainy Seattle – I visited Seattle a few yrs. back, for 2 days before an Alaskan cruise (loved the city btw, great restaurants) and I thought it was funny that true “Seattlittes” don’t / won’t carry umbrellas!

Hmm good to know. I always just assumed that the water would leak all over the bag for some reason (perhaps part of the brainwashing ). Perhaps I will ask for a pretty umbrella this holiday season and wet my toes!

That’s a great question, Aida. I carry a small fold up umbrella that I shake off and put back into it’s case, and then back in my bag. All is dry and sorted. Some restaurants have umbrella stands at the front of the door which is handy too.

Very true! If I do need some sort of rain shelter, I usually wear a hat. But I’m rarely out-and-about while it’s raining, for sure. So, question! What do you do with your umbrella when it’s wet and you’ve then gone inside? If you put it back in its little case and stick it in your purse, won’t the water still seep out and get everything wet? (Seriously, I don’t use them so I just don’t know these things!) There’s a part of me that would really like join Team Umbrella, but gosh it’s such a foreign concept to me!

Thanks, Aida! I think that’s because you don’t walk around in the rain as much as I do. You’re in your car or under cover most of the time. I’m walking in the streets – getting wet . High five to having an impractical style gene

Ahh now this is a happy rainy day outfit Slouchy-structured all over. That is one incredible sweater, the neckline and color are both brilliant. I am quite fond of the faux-half-tuck, I use that technique often with my sort-of-cropped sweaters. Thanks for mentioning that you can wear these trousers both belted higher or lower, that’s a great visual for me; I hadn’t even considered belting my slouchier pants higher! And the cream coat is really beautiful, rain or no rain. I think that is a perfectly lovely impractical component to have (I have it too!) ^^ Love the echoing dottiness between belt and umbrella, though the born-and-bred Seattlite in me still can’t wrap my brain around actually carrying and using one
