I had completely forgotten about these, but I used to own one back in the 90s. Plain black, a good fit for me. I wore it with jeans and chunky aran knits.

Then I let my little sister borrow it, and didn’t see it again for months. She moved out of our family home, into a share house with some friends. One day I was visiting and saw it in her clean laundry…

“Hey, that’s my bodysuit. I’m taking it back, ok?”
“Sure, no worries.”
“Oh… um, what’d you do to it? It’s all stretched.”
“Oh yeah, sorry about that. David borrowed it, I don’t think it was a good fit for him.”
“… … never mind, you can keep it.”

I wouldn’t mind wearing one again these days as a layering item, but I don’t think I”ll go out of my way to find one.

I was going to say “no thanks!”, but then I remembered that I DID wear them in the late 1990s. I had two textured ones: scoop neck, tight, one black, one white. I didn’t chose them, though, I think my Mom bought them. I wore them because I liked the texture and the fabric, and they were great for layering (alas I also wore them without layers once. Yikes. They were skintight.) I don’t remember getting wedgies, but I have a short torso, maybe that’s why.

The only type I’ve seriously considered since then was a “body shirt”.

I’ll pass for now.

I think I might try one again. I used to have a black velvet bodysuit that I wore with ripped jeans and cutoffs. So 90s. I liked how they didn’t come untucked and gave a sleek look. They’re also great for layering. A modern bodysuit might look great with wider menswear styled trousers. I’m not going in search of one, but I wouldn’t say ‘no’ if the right one came along.

This would remind me too much of my days as a chubby fourth-grade gymnast. Next thing you know, I’d be wearing non-slip footie socks with pom-poms at the heel and chalking up my hands…

I’m both tall and large-breasted, so finding an appropriate fit would be extremely difficult. Another reason for me to vote ‘no’.
