I recently found a second pair of comfy sandals after giving up on all strappy shoes for three years (my fussy feet don’t like straps). It was too good to be true when I scored my first pair of flat gladiators, and now these! It must be my season for Summer shoes so I’m stocking up.
The Kenneth Cole Reaction Cedar City wedged sandal has soft interwoven leather vamp straps that roof an angular open toe. The sling-back heel strap has an adjustable side buckle closure and elasticized inlay for extra comfort. The footbed is cushioned and the outer soles are rubberized for extra grip. The heel stands at two and half inches, which is pretty high for me but, quite doable for shorter stretches of time if the shoe is extremely comfortable. Ideally, I’d have preferred a one and a half inch heel for 8-hour runs, but that’s okay. This wedge passes the 4-hour mark with flying colours and that’s a huge accomplishment with my feet.
The leather is really soft so stretch away if you have a wider foot. Pop in foot petals if you have a narrower foot. Unfortunately, you can’t fit orthotics into sandals without them peeking through so I don’t have a solution for that.
Never give up trying to find the wardrobe items that work for you. Like me and my strappy sandal purchases this season, you will find them eventually if you persevere.

The Cedar City wedge sandal is available in several online and brick and mortar stores in up to eight different colours. They cost around $80 full price, but you’ll get them for cheaper if you do your homework. I bought the pewter pair on sale for $54 at Macys last week as another Summer go-to metallic wedge in my footwear collection. Perfect with frocks, skirts, leggings, clamdiggers, walks shorts, pants and jeans. Flop proof.

thanks so much for this information Angie! They are darling and it is nice to know they are comfy too!

That´s a typical pair of favorite shoes: they are comfortable and look great and match almost everything so that you can slip in without thinking. I like them in bright colors with dresses or the metallic ones with black pants for work.
Really cool and a bargain!!

Thanks Angie – I need a shoe like this (strappy, comfy wedge in pewter) but have not been motivated lately to go shoe-shopping for some reason. I think it’s because a lot of the shoe styles out lately just don’t appeal to me. But these look cute and comfy – I just ordered them – cross fingers they work for me!

Angie,
I have been wearing my Brulees with everything. They bring a touch of funkiness to the day-dresses I usually wear to work. But I wear them everyday because they are so comfortable, and I can comfortably walk-commute in them. I do need an alternative, but my feet hurt so much; I can never find new shoes. Thank you so much for trying out new shoes for us! I have found your suggestions to be right on the mark. We must have equally fussy feet.
A question about these: Can I do my 1/2 mile walk (1 mile roundtrip) in these? I won’t be on my feet for four hours, as I sit on my duff much of they day, but I do have that morning and evening walk.
Thanks!
Christie

Oh, I really like these! I could use a pair of wedges, too. Hmm… too bad Zappos has such exorbitant overseas shipping charges.

Thanks for sharing your find! With fussy feet, you are the perfect road tester of shoes … if they feel good to you, I’m always certain they’ll feel good to me!

Thanks Angie for the review! I have been looking for a pair of comfy strappy wedge sandals to wear with dresses & skirts. I have a couple right now but they are thong types and I was looking for something more gladiatoresque. I will keep my eye out for these at Macy’s.

Those are adorable! I’ve loved KC’s entire Cedars line this season.

I’m a long-time reader, first time poster.
Angie, I love reading your blog and reading all of the great advice from you and the members on the forum. It is really helpful because I’ve never had a strong fashion sense but I do love to buy clothes!
I had to respond to this post because I actually bought these shoes about a month ago, after seeing metallic wedges/sandals on this site. And I have to say, I LOVE these shoes and they are so versatile. I bought the pewter ones, and they are so versatile. I think they actually go with both silver and gold tones.
I agree that they are too high to be 8-hour shoes, but they are very comfortable. In response to Christie’s question, I think I could do a 1/2 mile walk twice a day in them, especially now that I’ve broken them in a bit. But I don’t have particularly fussy feet.

Love them. I was also wondering if it looks silly to wear pewter shoes with gold accessories? I rarely wear silver jewelery, belts, etc. as I have very golden skin, but it’s extremely difficult to find gold tone shoes that are not way too shiny!

When it comes to anything strappy, I have the fussiest feet on earth. Trust me, these wedges are comfy. I hope they work for you too.
I’m hoping that the colours are as soft as the pewter style that I got because that’s the only colour I tried on. Sometimes the difference in leather colour adds or takes away from the comfort level.
Christie, I’m glad that the Brulees are working out. They ARE magical and I’m wearing them right now. When I refer to this wedge as a 4-hour shoe, I mean running around town, doing what I need to do at a fast walking pace for 4 hours. That’s the only way I can do things so my peds HAVE to do go distance. So to answer your question, I’m pretty sure these wedges will do the trick.

These are so pretty Angie. I would have worn them in a heart beat about 30 years ago before so many miles were put on my feet. Now I have to stick to the platform type so my foot actually stays flat and the shoe sole rolls along.
Thankyou so much for the review. These will be so pretty on you and anyone else who buys them.
Is the heel wide enough to give the wearer stability? Sometimes these shoes are made with just a tiny spot for a wedge heel that feels like it would be easy to twist your ankle in. I imagine these are more sturdy if they are passing your road test.

Oh these are gorgeous and completely my style Angie! Too bad that I am on indefinite and absolute shopping ban, otherwise I would snap them up immediately!

I love wedge sandals! They are so versatile.
San, your reasoning for a platform sandal is very informative.

Cute, cute, cute! While these are still a bit too high for me, they are surely cute as can be. I scored some Clark’s Dusky Roads while in Minneapolis last week (and the Mall of America!) Tiny wedge, strappy, and Angie would adore the soft, soft leather and complete comfort. They are pewter, and as mentioned, go with my complete wardrobe. Persistence in keep trying definitely got rewarded!

Very cute! I’ve been looking for a casual wedge in a bright color, and these might fit the bill. Thanks for the tip!

You’re right about never giving up looking for the perfect fashion item. I have just found my perfect wedges, too. After MONTHS of searching.

Wow, Angie in strappy heels?! ::clutches heart::
I couldn’t stand these with my post-surgical foot but I’m glad you found something that works for your picky feet. It’s always nice to find shoes that LOOK a lot more painful than they feel :p

those are cute. i will be keeping my eye out for them.

Great info. Angie! I absolutely love wedges and have worn them for years! Being 5′2″, I definitely prefer heels over flats and find wedges so comfortable!

I agree, straps can be cruel to the toes…I am glad you found something that works for your feet…fun, and cute:)

I bought a pair of similar strappy wedges by the same label several years back, and they were and still are very very comfortable, so I think all wedges by the label are worth a try if comfort is key.

Thanks for de-lurking MLE and we are wedge sandal twins! You’re spot on about this glorious metallic shade that’s right in the middle of champagne and pewter and looks good with both metals. It’s extremely versatile.
Deb, I personally don’t mix my metals because I prefer it that way. But it’s totally acceptable to mix all metals these days. It’s not a faux pas.

Those are gorgeous, I think I saw something similar at Marshall’s today. Perfect for the stylish urban trekker.

I tried these sandals on today in pewter, brick/orange, and bark/brown. I found them at my local Macy’s and Dillards. I can totally vouch for the comfort factor.
Unfortunately, for this narrow-footed girl (9.5N), they were a “miss.” between the 9M and 9.5M, I couldn’t get a good fit. Either they were too short or too loose. Oh well.
If they did fit, I would have gone for the pewter ones. I think that they’re the best looking of the lot. The brick/orange looked cheap and weird, the bark/brown and black were too dark.

Very pretty sandals. Just looking at them I would never have thought they were comfortable! And the pewter ones would be perfect to replace my metallic pair that are worn out. Thank you for reviewing these!

Thanks for the review of these sandals! I have been looking for something like them for a long time–your comment about the leather’s ability to stretch to accommodate a wider foot sealed the deal for me. Must get my hands on that brown pair!

You are right, these are lovely! I got them in nude at Lord & Taylor. They are extremely comfortable. HOWEVER: not for narrow feet! I have pretty narrow feet and they kept sliding through. So, not for the narrow-footed among us, but if you have regular or wide-ish feet, these will be great for you. I gave mine away to a friend and she loves them.
