Post-Christmas sales get underway

December 26th, 2008

The post-Christmas sales are in full swing. Prices are being slashed as retailers deal with the economic slowdown and the bad weather over the last few days. Here are some of your online shopping options:

Enjoy the low prices, but don’t buy anything you wouldn’t consider at full price. This and other suggestions I’ve made for shopping end of season sales also apply here.

You know, I keep hearing about all these amazing sales going on right now, but I have yet to see anything resembling a major discount. I went to Nordstrom after work today, and to a local running/fitness supply store (which was advertising a huge sale), but neither impressed. The fitness store had some big markdowns, but only on stuff that tends to be 50% off this time of year (tank tops, light weight jackets). My sister went to Target today, and sold it was primarily Christmas stuff on sale.

That’s interesting, Cedar. I have the opposite impression. Generally, I have never seen American retail as marked down as it is right now. And a lot of this happened before Christmas. Nordstrom is not completely on sale yet but they are getting there. As for the rest of the department stores, the online bargains are exceptional when you punch in a discount coupon code. Give it a little while. Most of what you’re after will go on sale soon enough.

I’ve managed to pick up several high end things at significant discounts. I’ve been very pleased so far! :)
