I love the look of fishnets but have been skeptical of the bigger ones...I have a pair but they're for dress-up (like Halloween and Rocky Horror!) only. I will absolutely look for the micro-nets, they sound perfect. :D

Wow $40 hose! :o I'd consider the ones for $17-19, but even so, that would be almost twice as much as I've ever paid for a pair of hose or tights. At $19 they'd better last me 2+ years with no tears or saggy ankles. That's a major investment for something as easily destroyed as hose, at least on my budget. I started out buying $1 hose in high school when I had to wear them every day (and didn't have enough practice, so I tore them often). Now I typically buy nicer ones that cost $4-10 a pair. For some reason it blows my mind that anyone would pay $40 on a pair of hose, even if they could afford them. To each her own I guess.

Thanks Angie, that clarifies things! Sorry if I came across a little combative - not my intention

Judy, so right. This type of fishnet works with any skirt or frock. It’s hard to believe but there is something magical about them. It might have to do with the fact that your skin is peeking through. Who knows!

Thanks for the validation, Lena.

I have no objections to plain nude stockings, Anne. They are a super conservative option and there is definitely a time and a place for that type of attire. But unless you work is an extremely conservative environment, they lack personality and look a little dated. Sheer grey hose or honeycomb nude hose are good substitutes.

I also used to associate fish nets with less than classy. Then something clicked last year when I saw a pair at Nordies and I changed my mind. I found the packaging and they are indeed Oroblu. I wish I had stocked up!

I also got a grey pair, from eithr DKNY or Hue, can't remember. They are working out ok so far, but they don't compare to the look and feel of Oroblu.

Well I am going to be on one of those who won't be wearing fishnets, even these micro ones. I might get over the connotations but I live in a small town, and I couldn't be sure of what people would think. I don't really understand your objections to nude stockings Angie, but anyway are there other replacements for them?

Angie, on your recommendation I bought the Oroblu at Nordstrom's in black and brown and find them wonderfully stylish and more comfortable than regular hose. To find hose that works for me and is versatile for most every skirt or dress I might wear (I don't wear that many) has definitely been worth the price! Thanks again for a great tip.

Good point Ana. I’ll be interested to know if they do indeed keep you cool, because I have found them quite warm. Also, ask hubby very nicely to get you a pair from M&S when he next visits.

Thanks for the validation San, Jane and RSRP. I’m sure you look fab in your micro fishnets.

Joy, if you google “oroblu”, you’ll find several hosiery sites to purchase them from. They are unfortunately no longer available at Nordies. There are several fishnet stocking options offered by DKNY, Calvin Klein and Hue that retail for between $7 and $13. They seldom fit the bill so watch out. Sal, I’m glad you scored.

Meredith, as always, you crack me up :-)

Kristers, you make a super point, I always go up a size in my hosiery. This keeps it comfortable all over and keeps the so called pattern of the hose “intact”. If you’re wearing boots with hose, wear socks over the hose before you slip on your boots. Once again, super comfy. Nice darning tip!

Tanya, honeycomb nude hose don’t sound dated at all. I’m sure you’ll make them look sassy.

Shiny, I wouldn’t describe micro fishnets as daring – PLEASE wear the ones you have in America! Julia, I can’t wait to see you sport yours too.

Angie, you are so right on. Micro fishnets are the BEST! I have several pairs from Hue that have stood the test of time and run about $12 each. Love 'em.
