Miss Britt, that’s an interesting perspective. I don’t see the 90’s influence. Perhaps you can link to the 90’s shoes you’re thinking of and educate me.

NancyF, thanks for your attention to detail and knowledge. It’s great. The black men’s shoes are indeed wingtips. All spectators are “wing tipped”. I think that footwear terminology is different in other parts of the world. I have sat through loads of footwear reviews with fashion buyers and manufacturers and what I have come to know as spectators comes from my experience in those situations. The word “spectator” referred to any shoe that had “brogue” detailing, whether they were two-toned or not. Two-toned spectators are the traditional and more recognizable version and I’m glad you were able to clear that up for us!

The solid black men’s shoe is simply a traditional wingtip and not a spectator at all. The gray T-strap pump is a variation on the traditional wingtip.
