Is it appropriate to wear tights or opaque hose with closed toe sling backs? The shoes are not a fussy style but a bit in the chunky direction and would look cute with skirts in the fall and winter but I would need something to keep my legs warm.

I love those Hue toe socks dearly and even use them over and under my stockings and hose. We only get Hue tights here and not the socks, so I always try to pick up a replacement set when I go back to the US.

I have these shoes in black.. at first they were very comfortable, then, after about 2 hours, they start to hurt. Also, for some reason, they really make your feet stink! It's true...my shoes reek and none of my others do!

Thanks Angie! I really like the sound of them. I've never been a big fan of fishnets with larger 'holes', but was intrigued after you mentioned the micro fishnets on the forum, and I think I will give them a try. 'Polka dot black fishnet stockings': just reading that makes me smile;-)
And it's such a pity Marks & Spencer closed down their European stores a few years ago, they had some decent hosiery indeed, not to mention the best chocolate chip cookies and chocolate chips cereal ever!!!

Those white slingbacks are lovely Shiny, I think you will get lots of use out of them.

Shiny, I love those slingbacks. I tried the Sam Edelman's that Angie shows in the blog post, but they are too flat for my taste and comfort. Yours have a little bit of a heel which is nice. Just wish they'd come in more colors. (not that I need another pair of summer shoes, ha)

So true, Karen. A commuting society does not wear impractical peds.

Those shoes are adorable, Shiny. I hope they work for your trip. I’m still more comfortable in a closed shoe for sightseeing (like your Cole Haan ballet flats) because a slingback strap starts to rub after 4 hours. But, your feet might not be as fussy as mine!

Shiny, I think those shoes would be great in Paris. Very stylish, but also comfortable as well. I've seen too many tourists hobbling around in uncomfortable shoes this year, including a dear friend who had terrible blisters for 2 weeks. Not worth it! If you look around here, the natives are not wearing painful shoes. No white marshmallows, to be sure. But no high, strappy sandals either.

I just bought a pair of very similar looking sling-backs, at Marshall's, for dirt cheap (clearance section). They are Privo (a Clark's brand) and have lots of cushioning and support. I thought they might be a good option for the Paris trip.

What do you think, Angie?

Ooo, I LOVE these. I discovered them on my last trip back to the States in January. I haven't seen them here in Paris.

Happy Bastille Day!
